The Japanese oddity to naming teams

Whenever the calendar shifts to a major Japanese race, such as the Suzuka 8hr, one of the more amusing things to do is glance down the team sheet This years highlight for me has to be team Moto Bum, with other stand outs including aprilia D.D.BOYS, Team Etching Factory Yamaha and MITO MOTO & e'freaks Honda. Looking back through the ages some of the great Japanese team names have been Burning Blood Racing Team, Dog Fight Racing and Team Moto Space amongst others. FIM Updates Superbike Racing Homologation Lists for 2013

The International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) has released an updated list of motorcycles homologated for the 2013 Superbike, Supersport, and Superstock racing season. Notable additions include the new BMW S1000RR HP4, the MV Agusta F3 and the Superbike-spec Ducati 1199 Panigale R. To qualify a production-based racebike for FIM homologations, manufacturers have to meet certain production thresholds.

This beautiful motorcycle is the Moriwaki MD250 road racer, the replacement for 125cc two-strokes in MotoGP come 2012. The alloy beam chassis houses Honda’s diminutive CRF250X uni-cam motor, normally seen wearing long travel suspension and knobbly tyres. The quick revving liquid cooled four-stroke motor offers electric-start convenience and a maintenance schedule that most two-stroke racers can only dream of.
