Even BMW’s venerable GS was nothing more than a misunderstood, oversized dual-purpose machine with ties to the Paris-Dakar rally, which itself was only a little more than a decade old at the time. At the back of the dealership where I worked in 1991, parked next to the tire rack, languished a 1989 Honda XL600V Transalp.

I’ll be the first to admit that the procedure to get a motorcycle endorsement (and a car license for that matter) in this country is incredibly easy. If you’re smart, you sit in a classroom for a few hours, answer some basic questions, learn all the controls, perform a simple riding test, and you’re off to the races.  Look at what the Japanese have to do to get their certification! Chasing Summer – Baja Champions Star in Red Bull Web Series [Video]

Kendall Norman and Cody Quinn are starring in a new YouTube video series produced by Red Bull, featuring the two multiple-time Baja winners preparing for the 2011 Baja 1000. The two riders teamed up with Hollywood stunt rider Logan Holladay to win the 2011 Baja 1000 for the JCR Honda team in November. To prepare for the competition, Norman, a six-time Baja 1000 and Baja 500 champion, and Quinn, four-time Baja 1000 winner, rode  Honda CRF450Xs on a 12-day, 2800-mile off-road trip exploring the terrain between San Diego and Baja.
