Honda CR description

NO RESERVE. Clean low hour 2001 CR500. This is the last year of production by Honda. ***NO TITLE*** Maryland did not issue titles for off-road competition vehicles back then unless one was applied for by the owner. Bike does come with a MVA Bill Of Sale. Also the original OEM Honda owner's manual & service manual is included. As you can see in the pics bike is mostly original. I just took these pics & video today. Bike is stored in my garage under a cover. Today is the first time it has been started in 3 years. Before storage i drained the gas tank and carb. During storage twice a year i would pull the spark plug, spray fogging oil into the cylinder then kick it over slowly by hand. Today i added a gallon of premium gas mixed 32:1 with Benol Castor 2 stroke oil. I slowly kicked it over 4 times until i felt it was on top of the compression stroke then one hard kick and "The Beast" awakes for the 1st time in 3 years. Gotta love Honda's! Once again pics & video was just taken today.
FMF Gnarly pipe & silencer. A matching FMF spark arrestor is included.
Please see pics of seat cover. It has 2 defects but a new replica 2001 seat cover is included.
Front tire appears to go flat. I would recommend a new tube before riding.
New Dunlop rear tire is included.
Clamp on side stand is included.
Original owner's & OEM Honda service manuals are included.
MVA Bill Of Sale is included.
Please understand that this is a used 15 year old dirt bike. Bike is in above average condition for its age but It is not a new dirt bike. It has normal defects from trail riding, scratches, dent in the pipe (see pics).
Buyer is responsible for shipping arrangements & cost. My only responsibility concerning shipping is i will make the bike available for pick up. I encourage, if possible, inspecting the bike in person.
$500 non refundable deposit required. This is a no reserve auction!
Serious bidders only! If you have to get permission please do so before bidding! If you don't have the funds please do not bid!
I can email more pics if needed. For your viewing pleasure a video of the bike running.
Thanks.

How do 1000s compare to the 800s

Wed, 09 Nov 2011

Now MotoGP has completed its transformation from 800 to 1000cc, how do the lap times between the different bikes compare using Valencia and the post-season test as a benchmark.. Yesterday, Dani Pedrosa was the quickest 1000 on his Honda RC213V setting a time of 1:32.186. To find the quickest time from the outgoing 800 era you have to look at his current Repsol Honda team-mate, Casey Stoner, but it wasn't set on a Honda.

Shunji Yokokawa

Mon, 14 Oct 2013

Honda Project Leader Shunji Yokokawa's first Honda bike was a CB900, which he got when he was a teenager after seeing Freddie Spencer wheeling his way down the Laguna's Corkscrew.Yokokawa has been in the States himself recently, having travelled to the Bonneville Salt Flats to break a world land speed record for a stock 600cc motorcycle.According to the Southern California Timing Association website (you'd have thought the video might have mentioned something about the record?), Shunji was successful in his attempt during August's 'Speed Week', setting an official speed of 170.828mph onboard a CBR600RR.

The Japanese oddity to naming teams

Wed, 28 Jul 2010

Whenever the calendar shifts to a major Japanese race, such as the Suzuka 8hr, one of the more amusing things to do is glance down the team sheet This years highlight for me has to be team Moto Bum, with other stand outs including aprilia D.D.BOYS, Team Etching Factory Yamaha and MITO MOTO & e'freaks Honda. Looking back through the ages some of the great Japanese team names have been Burning Blood Racing Team, Dog Fight Racing and Team Moto Space amongst others.
