1979 Honda XR500R C&J

In order to discourage all the ebay loonies who think it's funny to hit the buy it now and then just vanish, I have had to resort to an immediate deposit payment for this listing. In doing so ebay then required me to eliminate the 'make an offer' option here as well.

1979 C&J XR500R - Real vintage C&J framed, tricked out 500R. Excel racing rims with new heavy duty stainless spokes rebuilt to Honda hubs. Piggyback Ohlins shocks were just completely restored/rebuilt. 43mm Showa forks also completely rebuilt with new heavy duty springs. Cleated wide racing foot pegs and cleated brake pedal. Powdercoated chromoely C&J frame & swingarm. Powdercoated engine. Custom fabricated aluminum side number plates/air box. Full custom Supertrapp disc exhaust w/custom headers: this exhaust system was custom built for this bike. Renthal aluminum bars & grips, Renthal sprockets & chain, vintage Sun Line controls, Whirlpool side pull throttle, newer Dunlop knobbies. The seat and aluminum tank are both from a '79 CR125R and they are extremely nice. New cables, Uni air filter in custom aluminum airbox. Vintage Answer Products bar pad. New Petty/Falk replica plastic fenders. There's more but I'm forgetting.

Since this bike is constructed from mostly aluminum and chromoely, it is extremely light for a 4-stroke. I'm guessing weight somewhere around 225 lbs. Previous owner I bought it from is convinced that some valve/engine mods were performed, but he had no actual records to prove these mods. However, the engine does run excellent, starts up super easy, and revs up extremely quick when given throttle. This is not your typical XR500R engine, that's for sure. Bike is way FAST and handles superb just like all C&J bikes are known to do. This is a very trick and quite beautiful vintage MX thumperAsk yourself this: When was the last time you saw one of these available for sale? Or one this nice?

This bike is also for sale on my website AzMikesVMXbikes.com, and I reserve the right to end auction early with an acceptable offer.

$250.00 deposit due immediately through Paypal. Balance to be paid in full either upon pick up with cash, or in advance with check or bank wire transfer. Bike does not leave my possession until paid in full and all funds have cleared. Balance due within 7 days of final purchase.

When I received this bike it was in restored condition. Bike was sent to my restorer for a freshening up and all systems were serviced and functional, along with a minor cosmetic upgrade. Bike is sold in used and as-is condition with no warrantees or guarantees of any kind offered. This is a used vintage off road racing motorcycle that has been 'fully restored', but buyer must know there will still be items needed to replace or correct by buyer, prior to buyer riding or racing this machine.

Mileage is an estimate. No actual numbers on frame or engine as this is a custom built race bike. --NO TITLE--

Casey Stoner Testing The Honda RC213V At Motegi – Video

Fri, 09 Aug 2013

Casey Stoner made a surprise return to MotoGP recently, participating in a two-day test with former employer, Honda. Check out the video below to see the former champ in action. The test took place at the Honda-owned Motegi circuit, where Stoner rode the 2013 model in the morning session before switching to 2014 machinery — the same spec bikes Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez currently pilot — in the afternoon.  Unfortunately, the Australian only managed six laps during the first day of testing due to rain, but completed 47 laps the following day when conditions were much better.

Day 2 Dakar 2014: Sunderland Wins First Special Stage

Mon, 06 Jan 2014

Honda won the second day of competition with Team HRC’s Sam Sunderland claiming victory in the first special stage of this year’s Dakar. Sunderland has had a frustrating time at previous Dakars, dropping out after three days of racing in 2012 and withdrawing a month before last year’s event due to fracturing both his wrists. Today, however, Sunderland made a grand entrance into the club of elite riders by brilliantly winning his first special stage of this year’s Dakar. Having started well behind his teammate, Joan Barreda, the 23-year old Brit superbly overtook Michael Metge and Juan Pedrero on the first part of the route.
