EICMA 2008: First Impressions

I haven’t seen anything that I haven’t already seen or heard about previously, but here’s a selection from three of the halls. Yamaha are the only manufacturer to use an industrial crane to place some of its bikes up on high rise stands.

Fri, 19 Jun 2009The Postie Bike Challenge started in 2002 as a one-off event in Brisbane, Australia to prove that small bikes can travel long distances over both asphalt, dirt, sand, or stony surfaces has turned into a 10-day charity event. The entry fee is $4,000 but almost everything is taken care of, including: Late model Honda CT110 Postie bike (registered to you!) All breakfasts, lunches and dinners All fuel for the trip One way air ticket back to Brisbane Support truck to carry equipment, clothing bag and mechanics Final celebration dinner and hotel accommodation That’s right, you can keep the Honda CT110 Postie bike (designed for commercial and agricultural, also used by Australia Post) but the concept is to give the bike to charity in your name after the event is over, its up to you but more than 90% of the participants do give the bike back. The 2009 Postie Bike Challenge will take place from October 3rd to the 13th and will go from Brisbane to Melbourne, the destination changes every year. Honda To Build All-Green Test Track For E-Bikes And Cars
Mon, 19 Aug 2013Honda has been making motions about its intentions to enter the electric motorcycle market with the RC-E concept bike and the Mugen Shinden Ni electric race bike (pictured above). Those plans are further bolstered by the news Honda will be constructing a test track dedicated entirely to the development of electric motorcycles and cars. Building an entirely new test track requires a massive amount of resources, and Honda intends to make this project 100% self-sustainable by using 70,000 solar panels, spread out over 33 hectares, with the track and remaining facilities taking up another 25 hectares.
