EICMA 2013: 2014 Honda CBR300R Revealed at EICMA
Mon, 04 Nov 2013The new Honda CBR300R already made its world premiere earlier this month at the 2013 CIMAMotor show in China, but the entry-level sportbike has now made its European debut at the 2013 EICMA show, with full details and specs released. Follow the rest of our 2013 EICMA show coverage Replacing the CBR250R in most western markets, the new CBR300R offers an extra 37cc in displacement and styling inspired from the CBR1000RR. As we previously reported, the 286cc engine was achieved by increasing the stroke of the 250′s engine by 8 mm to 63mm and keeping the bore at 76mm.
Honda Returning to AMA Pro Racing with Team Hammer and Dane Westby
Mon, 07 Jan 2013Days after the release of the reigning AMA Daytona Sportbike champion from his contract, the Geico Motorcycle race team announced it will field Dane Westby with the backing of Team Hammer on a Honda CBR600RR season. Westby rode last season for Team Hammer on the M4 Suzuki GSX-R600 to finish second overall behind fellow Team Hammer rider Martin Cardenas who raced on a Geico-sponsored Suzuki GSX-R600. Last week, Team Hammer released Cardenas from his contract option for the 2013 season so he could pursue opportunities in the Superbike class.
Magneti Marelli to Supply Electronics System to MotoGP Teams
Wed, 26 Sep 2012It’s no secret that promoter Dorna Motorsports has been trying to push a standardized electronics control unit for teams in the MotoGP World Championship. The lack of a top-tier electronics package has been one of the biggest challenges faced by MotoGP’s claiming rule teams, and a spec ECU would narrow the gap between the CRT bikes and the factory prototypes. The manufacturers competing in the series, Honda, Ducati and Yamaha, understandably are resistant to the idea considering the effort they’ve put in to develop their electronics systems.
