Reviewers were overwhelmingly positive in regards to the CB550 during the 1970s. And owners today are quite happy with these today. The CB550 4 garners a lot of respect.

Maintenance

Maintenance on the CB550 is nearly identical to the Honda CB750 and can be completed, mostly, with common hand tools. Some specialized tools, including feeler gauges, a timing light, chain breaker and riveter, amongst others. Common maintenance tasks include chain tensioning and cleaning/lubing, valve adjustment, rear brake adjustment, oil and filter changes, etc.

Overall, if common maintenance is performed regularly at the proper intervals with quality parts, the CB550 is very reliable and has been reported to be good for 100,000+ miles.

The CB550K '78 550 Four K was sold in 1978 in one of two colors: Candy Alpha Red or Black. The gas tank stripe was red with a gold pinstripe. The"550 FOUR" side cover emblem was gold. The "K" side cover decal and stripe were gold. The seat had a dual contour. The exhaust system was a 4-into-4. The engine was a 544cc SOHC wet sump inline four linked to a5-speed transmission. The serial number began CB550-2100001.

John McGuinness rides the electric future

Sun, 16 Jun 2013

Jump onboard with John McGuinness as he heads from the start line on his Shinden Ni / Mugen electric motorcycle in the TT Zero race. One wonders whether Honda would have announced that it is actually a Honda if McGuinness had taken the win. There's certainly plenty of Honda money behind the bike.

Results From Day 2 Of World Superbike Testing At Phillip Island

Tue, 18 Feb 2014

World Superbike testing at Phillip Island came to a close today, and when the dust settled, reigning champion Tom Sykes stamped his authority, setting the fastest time of the test at 1:30.239, just five thousandths shy of the outright lap record held by Carlos Checa. The time was set during the morning session of testing, though nobody was able to best Sykes for the remainder of the day. Eugene Laverty, who was fastest on day one, showed his pace was no fluke as he stayed near the top of the time sheets, ultimately finishing second behind Sykes, with a best time of 1:30.513.
