Honda CB description

This is my 1972 Honda CB450 with less than 4000 original miles. It is complete and almost entirely original -- only the mirrors are reproductions. Then engine has been rebuilt with fresh pistons and rings and shows 180psi cold on both cylinders. The carbs have been electronically cleaned and assembled using fresh rebuild kits.

The battery, points, condensers, spark plugs, chain, tires, and tubes have all been recently replaced. The stock rectifier and regulator were replaced with a modern rec/reg unit from SparckMoto (I still have the original pieces).

The headlight, taillight, brake light, and turn signals all work, including the three position headlight switch.

The front brake system has been completely rebuilt with fresh caliper seals, new pads, and a total master cylinder rebuild.

The inside of the gas tank has been sealed with a POR15 Cycle Tank kit and is beautiful.

The bike runs hard, it feels much lighter and faster than my '77 CB750 did. The throttle is fast and responsive, and it's very stable when cornering. The original exhaust is solid and quiet and the original air boxes have a nice growl. It pulls well at all RPMs and throttle positions with no stumbling or stuttering at all. The transmission likes a little preload on the shifter going into third, but most of my old Hondas like that.

The paint and bodywork are original and show a little age, as can be seen in the pictures. Frankly, I'm a fan of the patina and am happy to ride it as-is. It has zero mechanical or electrical flaws and runs as good as new.

Stoner explains the tank slapper

Mon, 03 Oct 2011

Casey Stoner looked all set to win at Motegi, after translating his pole position into an early race-lead. But coming over the crest on the back straight his bike momentarily lost control in a tank slapper. Regaining composure the championship leader was forced to pump his brakes to get the pads back in place, with the rear-wheel bouncing in the air he ran out of time and space to make the 90 degree right hander and was forced to run into the gravel.

Hero Moto Unveils Leap Hybrid Scooter Concept, Claims 235 MPG

Fri, 06 Jan 2012

Indian manufacturer and former Honda partner Hero MotoCorp has unveiled a new hybrid scooter prototype at the 2012 Auto Expo in New Delhi. The Hero Leap runs on a series hybrid powertrain with the battery-powered electric motor providing most of the power and the gasoline engine acting as a range extender, charging the battery and supplying power when the battery runs low. Hero claims fuel economy of up to 100 km/l, which translates to an eye-popping 235 mpg.

AMA Supercross: 2012 Las Vegas Results

Mon, 07 May 2012

Ryan Dungey scored his fourth win of the season but it was not enough to take second place in the points race behind champion Ryan Villopoto. That honor went to JGRMX Yamaha‘s Davi Millsaps who placed second to Dungey in the season-ending race at Sam Boyd Stadium in Las Vegas. Dungey took the holeshot and led every lap to take the win for Red Bull KTM.
