This bike is in EXCELLENT condition, and has won every show it has ever been in (Admittedly, it has only been in three shows...) I bought it in the US, then shipped it to Okinawa (Military). Just got it back on 02 October. There are a few items on the "to do" list for perfectionists. Metal was CONSTANTLY treated with Silicone (See below for details). These are factored into the current price. For instance:

- Ends on Brake Lines show a bit of "Island wear" (Light corrosion on metal parts due to salty air - This corrosion is SURFACE of brake line ends only. Metal is not pitted.)
- Headlight mount has a manufacturer's defect - essentially, the Powdercoat flaked off, revealing a "chrome" undercoat. (Poor powdercoating from manufacturer)
- May want to replace a few bolts that are still stock (Didn't have sizes in Stainless where I built this bike).
- Brake / Clutch Reservoirs could use a touch-up / re-coat.
- Small bit of yuk on the exhaust from where some idiot melted their shoe...

I purchased this bike brand new in August of 2010. I rode it for about 800 miles, then was sent packin' to Okinawa on a Military Assignment. The bike was stored indoors for about a 15 months before I finally had the money to send it to get licensed (huuuuge process over there). During the time it was in storage, I checked it nearly daily. It was brand new, less that 1k miles. I babied it.

Sadly, the Army sent me stateside for training for two months. Told me I couldn't keep my bike unattended in the Barracks while I was gone. I had to put it in a long-term storage facility. It was basically a parking garage; covered, but walls were exposed to the elements. I stored it deep inside, near a wall, and covered it. Week 2 into that training, Typhoon Songda hit Okinawa. Made Katrina and Sandy look like a light breeze - it lasted for days. (Okinawa's built for it, though. Their buildings are 18 inch concrete.) Winds tore the cover off. Salt laid on the bike for 6 weeks.

I came back; military paid me for a claim to repair bike; I hit the "self destruct" button on it. (See album).

Nearly EVERY surface was sandblasted and recoated. Nearly EVERY bolt was replaced with stainless. Several custom modifications; tons of bolt-on modifications.

For those considering military / contractor / PCS move to Okinawa or Mainland Japan - JCI is GOOD on this bike. That's at LEAST a $4000 value. This IS NOT reflected in the price. It's just a bonus. All paperwork included.

Most stock parts included as well (Exhaust, original airbox cover, etc.) Some of the stock stuff is corroded, but its yours if you want it.

I own it outright; just paid it off. One owner, clear and clean title. As of 02 October, I just rec'd it from Okinawa. I needed the shipping paperwork to get the US title, so it will be a day or two before I have a title in hand.

Cash talks. Make an offer. This is a show bike with hundreds of hours of work done to it, so quoting a KBB would only serve to demonstrate that you likely don't know what you're getting into.

It sits until it sells. No, don't help me sell it.

No Test Rides. Willing to meet at your mechanic if you'd like to have it looked at.

Backflips on a Harley? [video]

Mon, 07 Dec 2009

In late November two motorcycle daredevils from opposite sides of the world were fighting to see who would be the first to backflip a Harley Davidson XR1200 motorcycle. Australia’s Kain Saul reached the Promised Land first when he made a successful jump in Sydney on November 27. Harley-Davidson believes Saul’s jump is the first ever successful backflip for any full size street motorcycle.

2012-2013 Harley-Davidson VRSCDX Night Rod Special Recalled for Loose License Plate Bracket

Thu, 25 Oct 2012

Harley-Davidson is issuing a recall on all Night Rod Special models from 2012 and some from 2013 because of a potentially loose license plate bracket. According to documents released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the mounting screws connecting the VRSDCDX‘s license plate bracket to the tail may loosen, potentially causing the plate to rub against the rear tire. This may cause the plate bracket to rotate as well as damage rear brake lines.
