Harley-Davidson Touring description

If you've ever considered a Harley touring sidecar outfit, this is among the best.

I'm the second owner of this 2007 H-D Road King Custom (FLHRS), which I bought with approximately 1100 miles on the odometer in 2010. With the exception of the mechanical installation of the sidecar, I have personally done all the upgrade work and fastidiously performed all the maintenance on a seasonal basis. This is the only model year that the FLHRS was manufactured with the 96 ci engine and 6-speed transmission.

The Liberty sidecar was hand built by Pete Larson's team in Seattle for a customer with a 2013 FLHR. It was never installed and I purchased it at auction in mint, still in the crate new condition in 2014. It was attached to the bike by Claude Stanley's team at Freedom Sidecars in February 2015. Includes 5 degree raked triple trees, tonneau cover, quick detach folding windscreen, etc.

If you're unfamiliar with Liberty, Google them. They're an outstanding boutique shop that represents the gold standard for modern Harley-Davidson sidecars. Among other exemplary features, their suspension design has both a coil-over shock for road dampening and a leaf spring to which the tub is attached, resulting in an exceptionally smooth, comfortable ride and stellar handling.

This is bar none the nicest sidecar outfit I've ever ridden. Handling is well balanced and smooth whether riding around town or at interstate speeds. Thanks to the layout and convertible fairing, seating, and storage options you'll look at as good and be as comfortable on a trip to the store as you will on a cross-country trek.

Though mechanically flawless, there are some relatively minor cosmetic items to highlight. They are:
  • The sidecar and fender aren't color matched. Some body prep is required for this due to removal of the OEM installed fender trim and light, as well as to smooth out some rough finishes from the manufacturing process; see pictures for detail. I couldn't decide whether to paint everything or to just color match the sidecar, and just ran out of time. I've had several estimates done, so if you're interested in what this work may cost let me know.
  • The right side cover has some scratches that go through to the primer. See pictures for detail.
  • The crash bar has a quarter-sized spot where the chrome is peeling, just under the right highway peg. See pictures for detail.
Upgrades:
  • Lighting: Truck-Lite LED 7" headlight and 4.5" passing light with H-D frenched trim rings
