Harley-Davidson Closing Australian Cast Wheel Subsidiary

Harley-Davidson is closing its cast wheel and hub producing subsidiary New Castalloy, deciding to outsource production to third-party suppliers. Based in Adelaide, Australia, New Castalloy produces about 1,450 wheels and 500 wheel hubs per day for Harley-Davidson. That work will be transferred to outside suppliers by the middle of 2013.

Actor and Avid Rider, Lorenzo Lamas, to Lead Charity Ride for Abused Children

Lorenzo Lamas, the heartthrob who played ex-cop Reno Raines, a chopper/cruiser-riding beefcake sporting a flowing mane (that most women wished they had), out for justice in the ’90s TV drama, Renegade, is a real life motorcyclist, and will lead a charity ride on June 3 as the grand marshal for Child Abuse Awareness. Slated to join Lamas are actors/riders from Sons of Anarchy, Southland and American Ninja, as well as law enforcement and the general public, on the ride that will depart from Bartels’ Harley-Davidson in Marina del Rey, Calif., and end at the Newport Dunes Resort in Newport Beach, Calif. Music and Motorcycles Exhibit

The four-day “Music and Motorcycles” exhibit, presented by the Long Island Music Hall of Fame (LIMHOF), will be on public display at the Lighthouse Harley-Davidson dealership in Huntington Station, NY. The exhibit will feature memorabilia and motorcycles from many inductees from the LIMHOF including, Joan Jett, Billy Joel, Dee Snider, The Ramones, Darryl McDaniel of Run DMC and more. Billy Joel will be supplying several custom bikes, Twisted Sister have agreed to loan one of their motorcycles and a gas tank signed by Jett, Snider, Peter Tork of The Monkees, Gary U.S.
