Harley-Davidson Touring description

You are bidding on an amazing motorcycle, a piece of history. I am the second owner and purchased the vehicle from the original owner's estate.  Harry by all accounts was an amazing man, a WWII hero having served with distinction in N. Africa and the invasion of Europe. Harry had the un-fortunate mission to glide into Europe as part of the invasion of France in June of 1944 as a member of the 401st Glider Infantry Regiment. He was seriously wounded, spent months on a hospital ship and was told he would never walk again. He proved them all wrong. He rehabbed, walked and danced with his wife every week until his untimely departure at the age of 91. I am told a huge number of riders showed up at his funeral and know he is missed. I know these stories because I spoke with his friends, and was given copies of his discharge papers.

This "slab-side" shovel (it is pre-alternator) was running when I received it and it came with the original 1967 California registration, original 1967 California title and California license plate. Due to a quirk of fate and the kindness of a Wisconsin motor vehicle department staff member...I was able to get the original title back!

I have the original gas tanks (they have a small dent), hard side bags, Buddy seat (white), various highway bars, oil tank chrome cover, and Harry's custom made tool box and tools. The various embellishments to the fenders are his. I have some pictures of Harry. One in uniform riding what looks to be an early 50's hand shift HD and you can clearly see his taste in "bling" and another much newer pic of him astride this Electraglide. You can see the hard bags in the pic where I took it on the Slimey Crud Run in WI. Everything I have is included in the sale.

This bike has some cool OEM parts not always seen: Flag holder on front, police front stand as well as a center stand.

2009 - the entire engine has been rebuilt by one of the best HD mechanics out there, Eugene at Madcity Cycles. He made one important improvement to the crank oiling to allow for a higher output oil pump.

I had the speedometer overhauled but retained the original mileage. The odometer said 50,892 when I got it, now it reads 53,296 so it's only got ~2,405 miles on it since the rebuild.

It is rewired with a high quality cloth wrapped OEM-style harness, brakes re-built, generator and starter as well. Lights, switches, signals, horns all work.

It starts and runs and rides well!  I have enjoyed riding it through the hills of Wisconsin and now it is someone else's turn.

Happy Bidding!
