Harley-Davidson Sportster description

2011 Harley-Davidson Sportster Low XL883L, In 2011, Harley-Davidson, in all of their glory and wisdom substantially redesigned the XL883L. The best way to understand the effect of their changes is to drive a 2010 and then a 2011. They increased its fuel capacity from 3.3 to 4.5 gallons. The front and rear wheel sizes were reconfigured from 19 front/16 rear to 18 front/17 rear. This makes for superior dynamics in riding and a much better handling motorcycle. A beginner will find this 2011 XL883L much friendlier. A more advanced rider will enjoy its crisper responsiveness. This is a stock Sportster. Its color is Merlot Sunglo/Vivid Black. At 7,228 miles this Sporty is just nicely broken in. A call to one of our Internet Twins will garner more info than this space allows. It will also get you a fun test ride so that you can make a better decision as to which Harley best fits your needs.

The feeling rings true today as it did 72 years ago, when Wallace Van Sandt, of Birmingham, Alabama, took delivery of his 1941 Harley-Davidson WLD Special Sport Solo, purchased new in 1940 for $365 (roughly $5800 in today’s money) by his father as a high school graduation gift. The WLD Special Sport Solo was a ringer in its day.

From Miyagi Prefecture in Japan to Graham Island in British Columbia, Canada, to Milwaukee, Wis., the motorcycle tossed across the Pacific Ocean by the 2011 Japanese tsunami has landed at the Harley-Davidson Museum. The 2004 Harley-Davidson Softail Night Train owned by earthquake and tsunami survivor Ikuo Yokoyama is now on display at the museum as a memorial to those affected by the March 2011 tsunami. The motorcycle will be preserved in the condition it was in when Canadian beachcomber Peter Mark found it inside a cargo box that washed up on Graham Island in May.
