Harley-Davidson Sportster description
2003 Harley Davidson XLH 883 Hugger 100th Anniversary Edition In 2003, Harley-Davidson marked it’s 100th anniversary. As a part of this celebration, Harley issued several special anniversary edition motorcycles, with the Sportster being one of them. This is a great middleweight cruiser that has a great torque range, spirited personality, a lower seat height and that true Harley sound. The XLH 883 Hugger has distinctive styling from the Sportster, powered with the 883cc Evolution V-Twin engine. By lowering the seat closer to the ground (more than other Sportster models) and providing easily reachable handlebars and pegs it makes it an comfortable and tamable motorcycle. The XLH 883 Hugger features the OHV Evolution V-Twin 883cc engine, self-adjusting lifters, two valves per cylinder, carbureted fuel system, pushrod-operated overhead valves and a compression ratio of 9.0:1. Pushing out 49ft-lbs of torque @ 4500 rpm The drive-train consists of a primary drive double row chain, oil bath mechanical tensioner, 56/35 ratio, 61/27 ratio Clutch Multi-plate, and 5 speed wet transmission. The chassis on this motorcycle features a twin cradle mild steel frame, 39mm telescopic front fork, rear coil over shocks, 19” front wheel, 16” rear wheel coupled with dual piston front and rear calipers, uniform expansion rotors (front 11.5x.20” / rear 11.5x.23”). The front swing arm rectangular section is mild steel. Wheel base of 59.3”, dry weight of 518 lbs, overall length 87.8” and a fuel capacity of 12.5 lt. This XLH 883 Hugger has original 2,513 mile on the odometer. It has been kept in fantastic condition and appears to have never been dropped and always taken care of. The left side of the gas tank does have a small dent (can be seen in photos). This bike does come with (but not shown on photos) the quick-attach windshield, original seat and highway bar. These will be provided to the purchaser of the motorcycle. Enjoy the open road and ride safe! This motorcycle is for sale as private-seller. We are not a dealership. Item is being sold AS-IS, no warranty expressed or implied. Local pick up is available. Buyer is responsible for shipping. We can assist with coordinating shipping. |

Harley-Davidson World Ride Tops 10 Million Miles; Eclipses 2012 Total by 28 Percent
Mon, 01 Jul 2013Motorcycle riders from around the world enthusiastically joined members of the Harley Owners Group (HOG) on June 23 and 24 to shatter last year’s record mileage total for the Harley-Davidson World Ride by collectively logging more than 10 million miles, a 28 percent increase over the 2012 total. Launched in 2008 as HOG’s Million Mile Monday, the annual event was expanded into the two-day Harley-Davidson World Ride in 2012 to give more riders worldwide an opportunity to participate. In 2012, participants logged 7,799,140 miles, but this year as riders celebrated the 110th Anniversary of Harley-Davidson Motor Company and the 30th Anniversary of HOG that culminates this Labor Day weekend in Milwaukee, they blitzed that record by more than 25 percent, tallying an official total of 10,018,231 miles.
