The pullback buckhorn handlebar with tach and speedo, narrow 3.3-gallon fuel tank, quick detach passenger seat and black and polished motor are a key part of the styling for the Sportster 1200. -Rigid mount 1200cc Evolution engine -Silver and black powdercoated engine with polished covers -Mid-mount foot controls -Buckhorn handle bars -Speedometer and tachometer -Two-piece, two-up, pillow-look seat New for 2001 The XL powertrain has new high-contact ratio cam gears for quieter engine operation and a new high efficiency oil pump to reduce oil carryover. Borrowing a casting technique from the Twin Cam 88 engine, Spinylok Cylinder liners will be pre-owned on the XL powertrain to reduce oil consumption by improving bore straightness. Harley-Davidson Museum Announces Black Leather Jacket Exhibit

The Harley-Davidson Museum is opening a new exhibit dedicated to an iconic piece of motorcycle culture: the black leather jacket. The “Worn to be Wild: The Black Leather Jacket“  exhibit will showcase the ubiquitous article from many riders’ wardrobe.The exhibit includes over 100 artifacts including jackets designed by fashion houses such as Jean Paul Gaultier and Gianni Versace, as well as jackets worn by celebrities such as Elvis Presley. “The leather jacket symbolizes different things for each person who wears it, whether they are a motorcyclist, celebrity or a top designer,” says Bill Davidson, vice president of the Harley-Davidson Museum.
