Harley-Davidson Softail description

The 2012 Harley-Davidson® Softail® Fat Boy® FLSTF is one of the quintessential cruiser motorcycles. Hearkening to the "hardtail" choppers of the '60's and '70's, the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy motorcycle keeps that heritage alive more than forty years later. The FLSTF Fat Boy is the original "fat custom" bike—laid-back and luxurious with an unmistakable profile on the road. This Harley Fat Boy features a new, larger air-cooled Twin Cam 103™ Harley engine with 6-speed cruise drive transmission, providing more power for passing, hill-climbing, and riding with passenger and luggage. This bike has just a few small little hiccups, the front fender has some deep scratches and the very bottom of the rear fender is scratched as well. This is only cosmetic and doesnt show any signs of being laid down. The bike mechanically is perfect, it has 2 into 1 aftermarket exhaust that sounds incredible. The bike also has a few other chrome goodies that have been changed out. The tires are in great shape and overall this bike is ready to venture down the highway. We’ve previously written about Harley-Davidson’s plans to introduce a new 500cc V-Twin model for the Indian market.

Harley-Davidson and an American Hero

Fri, 07 Dec 2012

As motorcyclists, we’re drawn to the freedom two wheels represent; just man, machine and the open road. The feeling rings true today as it did 72 years ago, when Wallace Van Sandt, of Birmingham, Alabama, took delivery of his 1941 Harley-Davidson WLD Special Sport Solo, purchased new in 1940 for $365 (roughly $5800 in today’s money) by his father as a high school graduation gift. The WLD Special Sport Solo was a ringer in its day.

Shelved Harley-Davidson Penster Tilting Trike Prototypes Revealed

Thu, 04 Aug 2011

The Harley-Davidson Museum has pulled the covers off discarded prototypes of a leaning three-wheeled motorcycle developed by The Motor Company. Harley-Davidson commissioned automobile hot rodding legend John Buttera to build the original prototype (pictured above) in 1998. Codenamed the “Penster”, the Trike looks like it could have been an earlier version of the Can-Am Spyder, but it had a tilting front end similar to the Piaggio MP3.
