Harley-Davidson Softail description

2012 Harley Davidson Softail Convertible (FLSTSE3).

This is a CUSTOM VEHICLE OPERATIONS (CVO) Harley-Davidson, commonly referred to as a "Screaming Eagle".
CVO's - Screaming Eagle's are produced each model year in limited quantities and in select models.
These are top-of-the HD line in regards to engine, functional, paint and accessories.

The Softail Convertible was only available as a CVO  model, and only produced in 2010, 2011, & 2012.
It's called a "Convertible" because it converts to a touring/bagger from a street cruiser without any tools in about 5 minutes or less.
(Windshield/fairing, passenger seat/backrest and saddle bags)

This is my wife's bike, we've owned it almost a year and are reluctantly selling due to her increasing back problems.
This is her 3rd (Softail Deluxe & Streetglide) & favorite Harley, but it sits o the kickstand, under cover too much
.
This bike was sold new by Bumpus HD (Murfreesboro TN) in Sep 2011 to an older gentleman, who owned it for a year, putting just  less than 1,200 miles.
Purchased it in Aug of 2012 , we've added only 3,000 miles, so the odometer currently reads 4,081 ...it may have a few more miles on it before it sells.

Standard equipment - (CVO's are upgraded w/ most options for the respective model)
Engine Size -  110ci
Function -        Auto Braking System (ABS), floating rotors, hydraulic clutch, wide 200mm rear tire = beautiful lines w/ rear fender
Accessories -  Chrome everywhere including-
Wheels ($2000+)
Navigation- MP3 w/ amped fairing speakers
Matched seats, back rest & saddle bags
Garage door opener
Custom heavy duty CVO cover.

Added equipment
  • Garmin GPS upgrade - this unit has internal & external MP3 Storage as well as Sirius/XM capability- $150
  • HD Engine Guards - $300
  • Chrome curved tag bracket- $95
  • Chrome Quick-Attach Covers- $125
  •  Vance & Hines Long Big Shot exhaust system (not slip on mufflers)- $1,050
  • Screaming Eagle Race Tuner (SERT) that is custom to this bike/engine build- $450 (The exhaust & SERT allows for the air that the EPA chokes down on stock equipment)
  • HD Extended Service Plan / Warranty w/ coverage good through Sep 24 2016 - $1,647
(The factory exhaust system as well as a set of nicely chromed lower-positioned handlebars go with the bike)
This bike sounds GOOD, runs STRONG  and looks GREAT...

KBB values are retail of $26,390 & dealer trade is $21,200.
Please keep in mind that we want, not must sell this bike.
The winning bid DOES NOT include the available warranty - it may be purchased for an additional $750
(I can cancel for a $975 refund.)

Motorcycles at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show

Mon, 28 Sep 2009

Two weeks ago, I took a break from my regular duties gathering news for Motorcycle.com to fly to Germany to cover the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show for our sister site AutoGuide.com. For two hectic days, AutoGuide editor Colum Wood and I scrambled across the massive 6.2 million square foot Messe Frankfurt trade fair compound, running from press conference to press conference to get the latest on exotic sport cars, futuristic concept models and international unveilings from the automotive world. It was heaven for car lovers, but for me, it meant fighting my way through hordes of photogs, auto-journalists and car show models to get the first photos of four-wheeled goodies from MINI, Ferrari and Lotus.

Milwaukee’s The Iron Horse Hotel

Tue, 19 May 2009

Historically speaking, the kinds of places that have openly accepted or invited motorcycle enthusiasts and their bikes were lacking in a number of areas. While they may have been convenient and offered motorcycle-friendly amenities, they did so with little comfort or luxury. On the other hand, accommodations on the higher end of the spectrum were pretentious and inconvenient for storing bikes and gear.
