Harley-Davidson Softail description

*****Please note that this motorcycle is located in Hunterdon County, New Jersey.  I prefer local pick up.  If the winning bidder is unable to pick up the bike in person,  he or she will be responsible for making all shipping arrangements as well as paying all shipping costs.  The shipping company will have to come directly to my home to pick it up.  I cannot crate this motorcycle.  The bike can only be shipped to the winning bidder's confirmed Paypal address within the contiguous 48 United States.  There is no international shipping.*****

Up for auction is a beautiful 2005 Harley-Davidson Softail Deuce FXSTDI (fuel-injected twin cam 88 with 5-speed) motorcycle.  I took delivery of this bike brand new from Harley-Davidson of Long Branch, New Jersey in late 2004.  This motorcycle is in mint condition.  It has only 7572 miles on it.  The bike is painted in a stunning two-tone turquoise and sand which was a custom color for Harley in 2005.  This vehicle has always been garaged and is in original stock condition.  There are no modifications whatsoever.  It has never been laid down, raced, misused, or abused in any way.  This motorcycle has always been properly stored (i.e. no stale fuel) and started on a regular basis.  The oil has been changed on a regular basis.  There is a battery tender lead installed to make charging the battery much easier.  The spark plugs, engine oil & filter, transmission fluid, and primary chain case fluid have all recently been changed using Harley parts and fluids.  I am the only person (40 something) who has ridden this motorcycle since taking delivery.  In the name of full disclosure, there are a very few minor issues worth noting.  Each is circled in red in the photos.

1. There is a tiny nick in the top of the rear fender.  The screwdriver that I was using to remove the seat slipped out of my hand.

2. There is some premature wear on the driver's left foot peg.  I brought this to the attention of the dealer during the warranty period but they said Harley would refuse to replace it.

3. There are a few fine and shallow scratches as well as a deeper scratch in the right fork lower.  In addition, there is a tiny chip in the fork lower reflector.  These occurred because one of my other bikes got too close to it in my garage

4. There is a scratch on the left mirror glass.  Again, this occurred because one of my other bikes got too close to it in my garage.

All of the original paperwork will be included in the sale.  In addition, a 2005 Harley-Davidson shop manual will also be included.  There are no liens on this motorcycle.  I am the sole owner and hold a clear title.  Please note that this vehicle is being sold as-is without warranties of any kind.  It is also for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time and for any reason.  Please see my feedback and bid with confidence.  Thanks for looking and best of luck to you.

*****Please note that a $1000 deposit is required via Paypal (no Paypal eChecks) within 24 hours of auction close.  The winning bidder's Paypal account must be both confirmed and U.S. verified.  The remaining balance is due within 7 days of auction close and must be paid via a wire transfer from a U.S. bank or cashier's check certified by a U.S. bank.  All funds must clear before the motorcycle and title can be released.*****

The American Motorcyclist Association has bestowed a special recognition award to Zero Motorcycles and its Vice President of Marketing, Hall-of-Famer Scot Harden, for their work in attracting new riders and the positive impact they’ve delivered to mainstream media. Harden (pictured above from our recent Zero FX dirt riding review) and Zero were awarded the AMA Bessie Stringfield Award which recognizes individuals who have been instrumental in bringing emerging markets to motorcycling. The award is named after 2002 AMA Hall of Fame inductee Bessie Stringfield, the first African-American woman to ride solo across the United States and a civilian motorcycle dispatch rider for the army in World War II.

Zero Motorcycles Promotes Askenazi to CTO

Tue, 24 May 2011

Zero Motorcycles has promoted Abe Askenazi to the position of chief technology officer. A former Buell engineer, Askenazi joined Zero Motorcycles in 2010 as vice president of engineering where he played a vital role in developing the company’s 2011 line-up, overhauling over 80% of Zero’s existing electric motorcycle line-up while adding the Zero XU and street legal versions of the Zero X and Zero MX in just 10 months on the job. “Abe’s ability to effectively execute on an aggressive product development plan, select the best new technologies and rally his team is remarkable.
