Harley-Davidson reported a net income of $247.3 million over the second quarter of 2012, a 29.7% increase from a profit of $190.6 million from the same quarter in 2011. The Motor Company sold 85,714 motorcycles worldwide in the quarter ended June 30, 2012, a 2.7% year-on-year increase from 83,396 units in 2011. U.S.

FX Networks, the producer of the TV show The Sons of Anarchy, are giving away a 2009 Harley-Davidson FXD Dyna Superglide motorcycle that has been customized by Eagles Nest Harley-Davidson where there will be a special autograph signing with some cast members this Sunday, August 16th between 2pm and 4pm. For some time now, Harley-Davidson has been trying to fight the stereotyped image of its customer base as being predominantly older, Caucasian males. Harley-Davidson‘s Stereotypical Harley campaign became a big part of the company’s advertising efforts in 2012, featuring real Harley-Davidson owners and showcasing the large diversity of its riders. Fighting against preconceptions can be difficult but Harley-Davidson has some numbers to prove its motorcycles are popular with other demographics including young adults, women and minorities.
