Harley-Davidson Other description

2006 Harley-Davidson FXDI35 35th Anniversary Super Glide, Screamin Eagle Pipes, Saddlebags, Passenger Backrest - Descended from the original factory customs, the Dyna series lives at the crossroads of style and performance. Born of an undying urge to chase far-flung horizons. This year, the family gets a wheel-to-wheel redesign. One look and you see the machine is substantial in every detail. From the mass of the 49 mm raked forks to the muscular 160mm rubber in back. On top of the new tough look, you’ll notice performance upgrades, too. Beginning with a whole new gearbox. The all-new 6-speed Cruise Drive transmission is ready to kick its legs out on the open road. The clutch takes less effort to pull, making all six gears even more satisfying. A new frame, new 1" front and rear axles, and a wide swingarm make handling tighter than ever. Also for 2006, you’ll find all Dyna 1450cc Big Twins equipped with consistently smooth-operating Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) standard for the first time ever. You might find it hard to believe, but we did all this without compromising affordability. No one but Harley-Davidson could ever take the factory custom to a place this good. When Willie G. Davidson’s Super Glide rolled off the line in 1971, you could see it was different. Fat rear tire beneath a boattail fender. Narrow front end. Big Twin engine in the center. Gleaming red, white and blue paint on a one-of-a-kind shape. Thirty-five years later, The Motor Company announces the Anniversary Edition of the Super Glide. Wide handlebars Fat Bob fuel tank with dual caps. Loads of chrome parts. The famed #1 logo emblazoned on the tank, just as it was on the first model. Even the paint scheme does the original machine proud. Each of these limited-production bikes is individually numbered. Don’t wait another 35 years to get yours.

US Motorcycle Thefts Down 6% in 2011

Tue, 09 Oct 2012

Americans reported 46,667 motorcycle thefts in 2011, a 6% decrease from 49,791 stolen motorcycles in 2010, reports the National Insurance Crime Bureau. Despite the drop in reported thefts, the non-profit organization representing nearly 1100 property and casualty insurance companies says the theft rate still averages out to one motorcycle stolen every 11 minutes in the U.S. The numbers were published in the NICB’s 2011 ForeCAST Report which examined theft reports as well as recoveries.

James Cameron’s New Movie “Avatar” to use “Motorcycle Riding Badass” template?

Thu, 20 Aug 2009

James Cameron, the genius behind such movies as Aliens, Terminator 1 and 2, True Lies, and The Abyss, has a new movie coming out this fall. “Avatar”, a sci-fi action movie, stars Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Giovanni Ribisi, Stephen Lang and Michelle Rodriguez, all of whom can be seen in the new pictures released yesterday by the studio. In one of the images we see Sam Worthington wearing a Harley-Davidson shirt and sitting in a bar.  Is this the story of an average tough guy who rides motorcycles and plays pool in bars, turned action hero who saves mankind?  Does Sam’s character, “Jake Sully”, ever get on a motorcycle in the movie or just shows his Harley support by wearing the T-shirt?

Harley’s Ed Krawiec is 2011 NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle Champ

Mon, 14 Nov 2011

Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines rider Ed Krawiec is the 2011 NHRA Pro Stock Motorcycle world champion. Krawiec clinched the title with a second-round win at the Automobile Club of Southern California NHRA Finals at Auto Club Raceway that eliminated Lucas Oil Buell rider Hector Arana Jr., the only rider in the field with a chance to overtake Krawiec for the championship. Krawiec advanced to the final round and lost to his Harley-Davidson Screamin’ Eagle/Vance & Hines teammate Andrew Hines, who finished the season third in points. More from Harley-Davidson on Krawiec’s win: “I think this is really a statement on the season, to end it with an all-Harley final and the championship, and with Willie G.
