New Harley-Davidson Book Ties Together The Company’s Past

Margie Siegal, former columnist for IronWorks Magazine and motorcycle enthusiast has written a book on the history of the world’s most famous motorcycle, Harley-Davidson. Entitled,  Harley-Davidson: A History of the World’s Most Famous Motorcycle, the book ties together the mechanical evolution of the Harley engines, the social history of Harley and the beautiful visuals associated with Harleys in design, advertising, artful photography and collectibles. Arlen Ness B-Day Bash At Petersen Museum

On July 12 the Petersen Automotive Museum is throwing a birthday party for one of motorcycling’s customizing icons, Arlen Ness. The B-day celebration will be followed by a V-Twin Cruise-In on July 13 and punctuated by a summer-long exhibit entitled Arlen Ness: Art on Two Wheels. The July 12th birthday party is open to the public and the $95 ticket price puts you in the company of Arlen and other customizing aristocrats and also includes cocktails and dinner.

Owner of Tsunami-Tossed Harley-Davidson Found in Japan

Harley-Davidson representatives in Japan have identified the owner of the motorcycle lost in last year’s tsunami but later found on a remote beach in Canada. The 29-year-old owner, Ikuo Yokoyama, lives in Yamamoto, Japan, in Miyagi Prefecture, the region hardest hit by the 2011 Japanese earthquake and tsunami. Yokoyama survived the disaster but lost three family members and is still living in temporary accommodations.
