2009 Harley-Davidson Dyna Low Rider FXDL, 2009 marked the last year that Harley-Davidson manufactured a Low Rider for the United States market. Low Riders have been around in many guises besides the most current FXD frame including one in an FXR frame and one in an FX frame. I have an FXSB which is a 1985 Low Rider. The S stood for Low Rider and the B was for Belt Drive which was rare back then. This featured FXDL has only 3,329 miles on it and appears virtually new. The only option on this bike that I could find was a fob operated security system. This system shuts off the F.I. and the electrical system when the fob is more than about 20 feet from the bike just a little more security in today's insecure world. Being a Dyna, this Low Rider has external shocks, a rubber mounted motor which is 96 C.I. big, a speedo and tach on the fuel tank and a 6 speed Cruise Drive transmission. These Low Riders make great cruisers, two up if desired, and passable touring bikes with the addition of a windshield and some throw over saddle bags. In summary: low miles, great condition, a last-year model, and a realistic price. Fri, 08 Jan 2010Born on January 8th, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, Elvis Aaron Presley would have been 75 years ago today if he was still alive today. As a tribute to “The King” of Rock and Roll, the Harley-Davidson Museum has created a special exhibit, expanding on the semi-permanent collection from Elvis that has been on display since the museum was opened in 2008. The bill of sale, insurance, and registration papers for the 1956 Harley-Davidson KH pictured above will be on display along with the motorcycle that was owned by Elvis and the Graceland Museum has loaned some rare photos for the occasion. Along with Cadillac’s, Elvis had a passion for motorcycles but especially loved his Hogs and rode Harley’s in many of his films, including Roustabout (1964), Viva Las Vegas (1964), Clambake (1967) and Stay Away Joe (1968).
Harley-Davidson Museum Announces Black Leather Jacket Exhibit
Thu, 09 Feb 2012The Harley-Davidson Museum is opening a new exhibit dedicated to an iconic piece of motorcycle culture: the black leather jacket. The “Worn to be Wild: The Black Leather Jacket“ exhibit will showcase the ubiquitous article from many riders’ wardrobe.The exhibit includes over 100 artifacts including jackets designed by fashion houses such as Jean Paul Gaultier and Gianni Versace, as well as jackets worn by celebrities such as Elvis Presley. “The leather jacket symbolizes different things for each person who wears it, whether they are a motorcyclist, celebrity or a top designer,” says Bill Davidson, vice president of the Harley-Davidson Museum.
