Ducati Superbike description

2008 Ducati 1098s, black with red frame. 1385 miles on the odometer. Correct, 1385 miles! This bike is nearly new and just broken in.

I bought the bike in spring 2016, I found it up in Glenwood Springs, CO inside a collector's garage, it was a piece of art for him. He had kept up on maintenance and occasional rides. When I bought it, there were 535 miles on the bike. Because it sat for so long, I took it in to Erico and had them do the 600 mile service, along with new timing belts which was basically the 15k service, just because of age. When doing the timing belts, they used the newer Ducati 5-year belts. At the same time, Erico also performed 2 open recalls which were the rear sprocket and voltage regulator. I have all the paperwork to prove that this work was performed. Cost was about $1300 in June 2016. 700 miles on the bike since then.  I would have no hesitation whatsoever hopping on this bike right now as is and riding it across country, the bike is gorgeous, up to date on maintenance and needs absolutely nothing.

A few things to note:
The tires are original, they do not have any dry-rot however they are 8 years old, even with the low miles it's a judgement call on whether or not to replace them. The bike was stored in a climate controlled garage. The tires are in good shape with no visible signs of cracking or rotting.

The VIN decals were VERY CAREFULLY removed to expose the naked red frame as the European models were produced. I have the VIN decals saved and they are in the owners manual. VIN # is stamped on the frame. VIN is clean, numbers are all matching and no problems ever with teh bike or VIN.

Termignoni decals were also removed to give the exhaust a cleaner look. This is Termi exhaust and tuned ECU.

Extras included:
Termignoni performance exhaust and race tuned ECU to match exhaust ($2000?)
Fabbri medium tint windscreen ($125)
Fender eliminator kit and integrated tail light/turn signals ($150)
OEM Ducati tail bag - nice for commuting to work and long day trips in the mountains ($250)

Also included:
Stock windscreen
All owners manuals
2 keys + Programming key
Stock fender and lights

This bike is perfect, it needs absolutely nothing. It's amazing to ride. I hate to sell it but it's not a priority in my life right now. Yes, there are other 1098s's out there that are cheaper, mine has 1375 miles and completely up to date on maintenance, needs absolutely nothing. If you buy any other Ducati, you will end up spending a few grand on maintenance to bring it in line with the condition of this one. Hate to sell it but I'm looking to invest the $$ into a vacation home in the mountains. Clean title in hand, no lien. Ready to sell. I can also take the tail bag off and sell separately to knock off a few hundred if you don't want it. You won't be disappointed in this bike!

$10,200 and pretty firm on price, I will entertain cash offers close to this price but just can't accept and low-ball offers.  More pics available upon request. Email me through eBay and I will be happy to give you my phone number if you have questions.

This is a beautiful example of a low mileage, rare bike which has been owned and cared for by a collectors and Ducati enthusiast. Great Christmas present, buy now and you can have it in time for Christmas! Come spring, I will be riding it again. This bike is amazing, and in incredible shape, you will not find a nicer one

Rain Puts a Damper on Ducati MotoGP Test

Wed, 29 Feb 2012

Wet conditions limited Ducati factory riders Valentino Rossi and Nicky Hayden to just 18 laps each on the second of three days of MotoGP testing in Malaysia. Though there is a lot of work to be done for Ducati to be competitive, the heavy rainfall plus Hayden’s still-recovering shoulder limited track time for both riders. They used what time they did have to work on the Ducati Desmosedici GP12‘s electronics including new traction control software.

Winter weather but summer carries on.

Aye, it’s been a another good week in the world of Niall Mackenzie. My friends at Moto Direct sent me a new RST Pro Series suit to try out, I acquired some new rubber for my S10000RR and young Taylor Mac splashed home to 12th place on his Aprilia in the 125cc British Grand Prix. Being no fashion guru and pretty ancient now I’m satisfied the brightest suit I’ve ever climbed into looks the biz.

848 Challenge heads to Holland

Thu, 12 May 2011

This weekend sees riders and teams heading across the North Sea to the famous Assen TT circuit for Round 2 of the Rapid Solicitors Ducati 848 Challenge. After two stunning opening races at Brands Hatch BSB three weeks ago, the expectation is that the racing will be similarly closely fought and exciting at the historical home of bike racing. Leon Morris left Brands with a double win, continuing his strong form from last season and will no doubt be the man to beat in Assen, while Darren Fry, the current Champion, will hope for better luck this weekend after breaking his coccyx at Brands Hatch in a heavy crash. But the Buildbase/JHP Ducati team-mates will be wary of the challenge from Mike’Spike’ Edwards (MSKWorks.com), who will be riding his upgraded Ducati 848EVO for the first time this weekend, and Mark Cheetham (Shorrocks Motorcycles) and Kenny Gilbertson (Art of Racing/Boast Plumbing) who were the main challengers for podium finishes three weeks ago.
