Ducati Superbike description

Up for sale is a very early production low mile Ducati 916.  Just before production was to begin on the 916, there was a fire at the Bologna factory.  Ducati moved production of the early 916's to the city of Varese where they were mostly "hand built". Because of the low numbers built in Varese and also the fact that they were hand built, these early bikes have created a cult following.  This particular model has only 6483 miles on it and is in excellent condition.  All the added carbon fiber pieces are original Ducati Performance parts.  Frame plugs and front signals are also Ducati Performance.  The Marchesini wheels are first generation hollow back (period correct for this bike).  The original wheels, pegs, clutch cover, and other misc. original parts are included in the sale.

The bike has less than 1000 miles since the last major service was performed at the DucShop in Atlanta. The belts were changed again in October of 2015 due only to age.  This bike has been in a collection for the last 10 years.  It has been started monthly and ridden a few times a year.  It had accumulated about 700 miles during the last 10 years.

The bike is in excellent condition. Very clean, very well maintained.  I've circled a scratch on the rear tail section in the last picture. Other than that this is a very, very nice clean example.  It's a rare opportunity to obtain an early model 916 with very low miles.

The other day Ducati Diavel was seen on tests in Germany. In addition to the front footrests moved forward, an updated fuel tank and swingarm, the camouflaged motorcycle featured a belt drive rear wheel. The rear shock mount has been relocated, while the front still has a fork from Marzocchi, which disbanded this year.

Bayliss Beats Rossi in World Ducati Week Diavel Drag Race

Mon, 25 Jun 2012

Former World Superbike Champion Troy Bayliss out-dueled MotoGP star Valentino Rossi in a highly-anticipated showdown to win the Diavel drag race on the Misano Circuit‘s starting straight as part of World Ducati Week 2012 celebrations. Bayliss and Rossi faced off in the final round after getting through the preliminary rounds which also featured Rossi’s MotoGP teammate Nicky Hayden, reigning WSBK Champion Carlos Checa, Jakub Smrz, Sylvain Guintoli, Niccolò Canepa and Lorenzo Zanetti. The final between the two multiple-time World Champions saw Bayliss getting off to a clean start while Rossi’s Diavel wheelied off the ground a couple of times.

Ducati Diavel gets more Öhlins treatment

Here's a look at some tasty black Öhlins forks for the Ducati Diavel. This is what Öhlins have to say about them: We've developed a set of performance forks for the awesome Ducati Diavel to give increased handling capabilities to this already unique ‘muscle bike’.The FGRT 301 ‘Road and Track’ forks have been especially designed with black outer tubes and gold fork sliders to retain the mean and moody look of this 160bhp monster machine, something that reflects the front suspension on the Ducati MotoGP machines.Featuring 48mm forks containing Öhlins NIX 30mm cartridge technology, the new forks offer improved road manners and high performance capabilities for when the pace increases. With adjustment of compression and rebound split between the two fork legs, the new forks offer unrivalled control and feel whatever the conditions. The forks follow the successful introduction of the Ohlins rear shock for the Diavel and it is expected many customers will combine the two suspension systems for the ultimate in comfort and handling for their machine.Öhlins has a fantastic relationship with Ducati with models such as the Multistrada 1200S and the eagerly awaited 1199S Panigale utilising electronically adjusting Öhlins suspension systems. The Öhlins FGRT 301 Road and Track forks are available now and are priced at £2597.90 + VAT.
