Ducati Sport Touring description

Up for auction is a 1999 Ducati ST4 Sport Touring motorcycle. We are a multi-line motorcycle dealership, selling new BMW, Honda, Suzuki, and Kawasaki motorcycles in addition to a few other brands. This Ducati motorcycle was recently acquired in trade by our dealership, toward the purchase of a new BMW motorcycle.  This 2 owner ST4 belonged most recently to a client in his late 50's who owned this motorcycle since 2008 and he purchased it then with only 4,308 miles at the time.  He had his recommended major maintenance done at the Ducati dealership over the past few years.  This motorcycle is basically all OEM stock, with no upgrades or modifications other than a smoke tinted windscreen.  Nice and original, just how the bike was sold new back in 1999.

This Ducati ST4 has just over 9,671 miles and we hold a clean Massachusetts Title for this bike.
Our service department has performed an overall inspection & safety check on this motorcycle, and we have found that the speedometer & tachometer has just recently stopped working.  We took the bike on a test ride when we took in trade & they were working fine, so we know the miles on the bike are accurate.  We are not a Ducati dealership, therefore we are unable to diagnose or fix this issue.  There appears to be an issue or malfunction with the entire gauge cluster.  Aside from this minor gauge cluster issue, this Ducati 2 cylinder engine starts easy, runs strong, and the transmission shifts through all the gears smoothly.  Please feel free to call 617-275-3784, with any questions or concerns during normal business hours.

9 Handy Guides to Motorcycle Road Racing

Thu, 06 Aug 2009

There’s a great series running on Motorcycle.com all about getting you and your motorcycle ready for road racing.  If you are interested at all getting out on the track to be just like those MotoGP racers, you have some very interesting reading ahead of you. The series is very extensive, it starts off with just you and your motorcycle and proceeds all the way to what you should expect, learn, know and bring to the track.  Any expenses made are highlighted in each article so you can get an idea just how much it will cost to get you on your way with this addiction.  The author, Jeremiah Knupp, took his 2000 Ducati 748 along on this journey. Here’s 9 handy guides to help you start motorcycle road racing: Introduction: Leaving the lawn chair Geoff May: one man show to AMA pro – Pointers and Interview with Pro Geoff May Prepping your bike for track school Cleared for Take-Off: Getting Your Race License Building a Supersport racer – the minimum Building a Supersport racer – the priorities Advanced Supersport modifications Building a Supersport Racer – Stage III, the Finishing Touches Preparing for your first race weekend Even if you don’t plan on ever getting into road racing, I found the articles to be quite fascinating as to how Jeremiah Knupp (the author) got prepared for his new hobby.
