WSBK 2013: Phillip Island Race Report

Max Biaggi who? The Roman Emperor’s retirement after winning the 2012 World Superbike Championship marked the end of an era for Aprilia, with the 2013 campaign marking the first without Biaggi since the Italian manufacturer came back to the WSBK scene with the RSV4. If Aprilia misses its two-time WSBK Champion, it sure didn’t show it with a dominating display at the 2013 season opener in Australia.

2014 WSBK – Donington Results

Tom Sykes and Loris Baz captured a pair of one-two finishes for Kawasaki at England’s Donington Park. The first race saw the reigning World Superbike champion fight his way up from 11th place for the win while Race 2 offered a three-way battle between the two Kawasaki riders and Aprilia‘s Sylvain Guintoli. Ducati 1199 Panigale on the Podium in Superstock 1000 Debut – Video

We’ve already reported on the Ducati 1199 Panigale’s domestic racing debut (and first race victory) but the 1098 successor has finally made its international racing debut in the FIM Superstock 1000 Cup. Barni Racing‘s Eddi La Marra captured pole position on the Ducati 1199 Panigale and led for the first six laps before the race was red-flagged after Team Brazil racer Heber Pedrosa crashed his Kawasaki ZX-10R. The race was restarted as a five-lap sprint.
