Ducati Other description

1969 Ducati 450 Jupiter also know as a 450 Scrambler. This is a barn find from southern CA, last registered in 1979. The bike has been lightly cleaned, but could use a little more polishing depending on what the new owner intends to do. The bike is complete with lots of original parts that are not typically found on these old bikes. This is the second one I have owned in the past 15 years and it is a blast to drive. I had new tires mounted and replaced the rubber shock gators and foot peg rubbers. The tank is solid but needs to be cleaned. There are no dents but the paint has some peeling (ok a lot of peeling) and has some bit of touch-up. I did a quick cleaning of the carb and tank, just to get it started and I started the bike and it runs well. The tail light and brake light works, headlight and horn do not, although I will see if I can figure out what the issue is as the wiring has been untouched and everything should work. This bike has some paths which I have not seen before like original Ducati key and steering lock keys as well - usually these are long gone. The rear rim has more rust on it then the front, which is not unusual but I have an spare Radaelli rim, laced with hub which I will throw in the deal. The bike has chrome tach and speedo holders, which are rare and original. All cables including the decamp mini-lever cables are there. The pictures do not really show it but the engine case lower nuts have wire ties so I believe the engine to be untouched. Bike is located in Rush, NY outside of Rochester. Bidders are welcome to inspect the bike in person - just send me a note and we can arrange a time. I uploaded a video to YouTube, but make sure you are looking at the most recent one as there are videos from my other Jupiter. I have a copy of the last CA registration and this bike will be sold with a bill of sale only. No title. Ask questions and good luck bidding.

Former World Champion Franco Uncini Named Grand Prix Safety Officer

Wed, 20 Feb 2013

The International Motorcycling Federation has named Franco Uncini the FIM Grand Prix Safety Officer and circuit inspector. The 1982 500cc Grand Prix World Champion (pictured on the left above) takes over for the retired Claude Danis (right in the photo) to oversee safety in MotoGP. The now 58-year-old Uncini won the 1982 World Championship for Roberto Gallina‘s factory-backed Suzuki.

Ducati 1199 Panigale RS13 unwrapped

Tue, 19 Feb 2013

Maybe I'm wired up wrong but these pictures of the Alstare Ducati 1199 Panigale are, to me, more exciting than the latest Sports Illustrated cover. Just look at that tight chassis, the flowing curves and those cans tucked just out of sight and then compare that to the model on the right. I know what I'd rather spend the day with.
