1963 Yamaha YDS-2 (1963)
The Yamaha 250 Ascot Scrambler was introduced in 1963 using a YDS-2 FrameWheels + Forks, (see the Cycle World article listed below). What you see in thephotos is what I have. The bike was parked in 1980 with a full tank of oil/gaswhich turned to sludge and prevented rust except for the top front pictured-a shame because the 'patina" of the "Yin-Yang" tank is so good-badges pads and petcock are excellent. The motor has water damage - the right cylinder-was seizedthere is a vertical crack in the case by the crank oil hole that needs repair (photo #8). Left cylinder is good-turns over-shifts through the gears. At this stage of the game thoughit needs to come apart for inspection of the right crankshaft, seals etc.To make a true Ascotmotor (as mentioned in the article) you would need to source the top end, carbs and chambers. To reiterate-this is a 1963 YDS-2 with matching #'s and a clear Title.I can ship itin the CONUS in 3 boxes for $400.It will take @10 days to pack and ship.?'s call Steven 6267997098 https://magazine.cycleworld.com/article/1963/11/1/yamaha-ascot-scrambler2024-07-01 12:42:42Pasadena, California, United States11,000450.00
