Chopper Chopper description

This is a self assembled motorcycle with the following features:
1. An RC Components softail frame.
2. A Merch Performance 120 cu in Evo style motor That cost $5,695 alone:  search for Merch Performance 120 evo style
3. A Delkron 5 speed transmission.
4. A BDL 3" open belt primary and clutch.
5. Removable saddlebags and removable saddle bag struts (if you want to cruise the town without bags).
6. RC components forks.
7. A 180 series rear tire
8. RC components wheels.
9. A really nice graphic paint job that features the nuclear fast attack submarine that I served on.
10. A Thunderheart performance wiring harness.
11. A Mikuni HSR 42 Carb.
12. Accutronix forward controls with floorboards and the original foot pegs.
13. A high volume/racing oil pump.
14. An oil cooler mounted in front of the engine cases.
15. A nearly new set of leather saddle bags with struts that can be removed if you prefer.
16. Billet-6 brakes (six piston calipers)

This bike was built and titled in 2000. It is an homage to my US Navy service and includes graphics of undersea life and the nuclear powered fast attack submarine that I served on.

It pulls really hard from a stop light and has incredible torque. Those Merch Performance engines were commonly used as the basis for HD dragster motors. The bottom end and decks are a bit beefier and allow a longer stroke and piston diameter than the HD cases. The combination of the Accutronix forward controls with the floor boards is a one-off. If you don't want floorboards they could be replaced with Accutronix foot pegs which I will include. I like floorboards. It's more comfortable on a long ride. I included a few pictures taken during the fabrication.

The first nine photos were taken this week. I have included pictures taken during the fabrication and when I started riding it which show a different seat and dash board with Dakota Digital gauges. I will include those as well if you like. The original carburetor, an S&S super G was removed years ago and replaced with the Mikuni, which is a better carburetor. The original S&S carburetor is not included. The original up-swept pipes are not included. They were replaced with low pipes to allow for the bags.

This bike wasn't ridden very much because I wanted to preserve the paint and chrome, but a few years later they aren't perfect anymore. The bike was never wrecked and never dropped. The paint on the current dashboard is a temporary fix to some scratches and should be re-done. I would do it in a glossy black, but that's just me. It flows with the seat and bags that way.

The bike needs an oil change, fresh gas and a fresh battery as well. It has been in storage for the past two years. I had to give up riding after my fourth heart surgery, and it looks like I won't be back on my bikes again. Check out my other auction for a softail framed sportster that I built after this one. I didn't ride it much but my wife and sons did.

American Chopper Live Build-Off Returns with Paul Teutul Sr. vs. Junior vs. Jesse James vs. Fast N’Loud

Thu, 11 Oct 2012

Last year, the “American Chopper” TV franchise was reinvigorated by a special live show that brought in nearly 5 million total viewers and was the most-watched show among men of the entire TV schedule’s night. Called “American Chopper Live – The Build-Off,” the show pitted the Orange County Chopper crew against Paul Jr. Designs and the irascible malcontent Jesse James.
