Buell Lightning description

Offered for sale here is a 1997 Buell S1 Lightning with 12,960 original miles. I am the 2nd owner and have owned the bike for approximately 17 years. The bike is in predominantly original configuration with notable modifications including: Corbin leather seat, Bub 2 into 2 exhaust, and custom turn signals. I have tried to make sure any cosmetic blemishes on the bike can be seen in included photos. Since my decision to sell I have been riding the bike daily (last chance for some quality time together) and installing a new battery has corrected the only reliability issues I experienced. Entrepreneur.com, the web presence of Entrepreneur magazine, has a feature article on Erik Buell and his Erik Buell Racing (EBR) company. While the article reveals some lack of knowledge of the two-wheeled world by overusing the term “crotch rocket” as the generic description for sportbikes, this is forgivable considering it’s coming from a publication specializing in small businesses and, well, entrepreneurs, and not motorcycles. The article otherwise does a good job of giving a brief but broad synopsis of Buell and the triumphs and tragedies encountered with BMC (Buell Motorcycle Company) — it’s a good primer on Buell if you’re not fully up to speed on Buell’s life in motorcycles.

On March 4th with temperatures at -10C, Craig Jones, riding a Buell 1125R complete with a nitrous oxide kit (an estimated extra 50bhp), reached a top speed of 148.7mph on a 1.1km run over the frozen Lake Dellen.

All-American Team Entered For 2014 Isle Of Man TT

Two EBR1190RS race bikes will compete in this year’s Isle of Man TT. This is historic in itself, as never has a Buell motorcycle competed on the famed course. Making the moment more special is the fact both pilots are also Americans: TT veteran, and 2010 TT Zero race winner Mark Miller, and relative newcomer to the TT, Brandon Cretu.
