Benelli 125 Cobra description
This is a 1966 Benelli 125 Cobra.
I It is a lightly customized machine. My goal was NOT to recreate the bike as it left the show room, but to build the bike as a street racer without altering the classic lines of the machine.
I have enjoyed ridden it around some and it is a nice little machine. It starts easily (don't forget to tickle the carburetor). It idles nicely and runs down the road with no problems.
The bike comes with 2 sprockets. One for faster travel, and one for more power but a lower top speed.
If the road is pretty flat, it will hold a 55mph speed even with my big self on it. It will go faster but I didn’t push it. This is with the smaller rear sprocket installed. I would say steep hills might prove a challenge for it at higher speeds .
The bigger sprocket makes the bike seem quicker, but I would say the max speed with the bigger sprocket would be about 45mph. Ok for sprinting around town.
The speedometer has been replaced with a NOS part. The bike had approximately 800 miles recorded miles but the new Speedometer only shows the 40 or so miles I put on it after I installed the new speedometer.
Here are some of the mny things that were done:
· The bike was sand blasted down to bare metal.
· New professional paint job.
· The wheels were rebuilt- re-laced with new spokes and have new rims.
· New tires and tubes
· NOS speedometer
· NOS exhaust system.
· The engine was partially taken apart for inspection but there was nothing wrong that needed to be rebuilt on this low mileage machine. It was just cleaned and put back together
· NOS Battery
· Seat has been professionally reupholstered
· All new control cables
· New rear shock absorbers
· New foot peg rubber
· Tons of other stuff too that you will see in the photos
· The bike is registered to me and I have a clear Kansas title for it. Couple problems:
The bike has picked up a few nicks here and there in the garage as well as being ridden some after the restoration (About 40 miles or so).
I noticed after the bike has been sitting for a while, that it will drip oil.
Extras:
· The bike comes with a good quality, but non-original tool kit.
· Also, a pamphlet that gives the basics for operating the motorcycle.
· Spare set of engine seals
· Spare engine gasket
· Unregistered original 1966 Kansas motorcycle license plate
· Extra key
· Interchangeable large rear sprocket to give more power but lower top speed The boring stuff:
If you are local, you
are free to come by and take a look.
I know Ebay reaches a lot of people, and not all are classic bike experts so let me say this- Please remember: This is a 50 year old machine. Anything can happen! It starts and runs fine today but that is not to say it will tomorrow! I know of no reason why that would happen, but it isn’t a modern bike so you will probably have to fix stuff from time to time.
***Please- if you are going to bid, please follow through and pay. I had another motorcycle that I had to relist three times because people didn’t follow through. It isn’t nice so please don’t do that. ***
A $500 deposit is required within 24 hours of winning the auction. The balance is required in 7 days. Payment must be in certified funds or cash in person. I can store the bike for a week or two but I would like to have it picked up by then. The main reason I am selling motorcycles is to gain some garage space!
I have had very good luck with this shipping company. Prices have been reasonable and they are always professional. If you would like to have them ship your bike you can contact them through this link: http://www.dvtrans.com
I guess that is it, Good Luck!

Benelli introduced a new tourer
Tue, 06 Mar 2018The bike is equipped with an in-line "two", but the power is unlikely to impress. Qianjiang, which owns the Benelli brand, has introduced a new 302 Tourer to the Chinese market with a nice design, but not the most advanced stuffing. The motorcycle has a 300cc engine from a naked BN302, but in a slightly derated format - it develops 34 hp and 27 Nm (naked has 37 “horses” and 26 Nm).
EICMA 2008: First Impressions
Mon, 03 Nov 2008I have had a little walk around checking out the preparations for the show. I haven’t seen anything that I haven’t already seen or heard about previously, but here’s a selection from three of the halls. Yamaha are the only manufacturer to use an industrial crane to place some of its bikes up on high rise stands.
