BSA VICTOR SPECIAL tech info
BSA VICTOR SPECIAL description
Offering a 1969 BSA 441 VICTOR complete, original and in dry storage since 1985. A 47 year old British BSA 441 Victor with an attested 5,627 miles in outstanding physical condition and it runs! It appears that the only item missing that I could see is the tool box side cover. The attached photos are Hi-Res so please look the bike over well.
A LITTLE HISTORY
The 441 Victor is legendary with its 441cc “over square” single cylinder (90mm stroke & 79mm bore) and is still used in completion by bike clubs across the country. As the BSA 441 evolved from 1966 to 1969, the Victor had become more street oriented, with lower 9.5:1 compression, a battery/coil ignition and even a heat shield for the waist level exhaust.
Jeff Smith, a British motocross racer, rode a modified C15S-framed bike with the 441cc engine in 1964 and 1965, taking the 500cc world motocross championship both years. The bike was christened “Victor,” and the following year, 1966, BSA introduced a production 441 Victor to the public.
There’s a trick to firing up a well-sorted 441 that makes it so easy, I’m sure I could start it by hand. The carburetor has to be “tickled” (shorthand for flooded with raw fuel) and the engine turned over (using the decompression lever) so that the piston is just past top-dead-center on the firing stroke (which is easier than it sounds). Then, with a firm, committed swing at the kick starter with the throttle closed, a well-maintained 441 will almost always start first time.
REVIEWS from that era
“The 441 single is a rare jewel of simplicity and a masterpiece of performance.” — Cycle, April 1968 “For those of us who like to potter about with old bikes, motorcycles like the Victor still deliver satisfaction in spades.” — Cycle World August 1989 “Bash it, thrash it, even trash it, the 441 Victor was proof positive that the British could build a highly stressed, reliable power unit.” —Rider, July 1993
This is a great bike for riders, racers or restorers and this model BSA is getting very hard to find, especially in this condition. Please contact me with any questions you might have. The BSA is being sold in an AS-IS condition only because of its age.
The FINE PRINT
The bike can be picked up at my home in South West New Hampshire but shipping will be at the buyer’s expense. I will assist with the co-ordination of the pick up in any way I can.
A deposit of $500 will be due via PayPal or money order within 24 hours of the completion of the auction. The remaining funds will be due within 6 days via WIRE TRANSFER or CASH only (NO PayPal). The bike is being sold with a Bill of Sale as NH, as a matter of policy, no longer produces titles for vehicles older than ten years. They will, however, produce a title for the sum of $25 and a time frame of up to two months or so. I will include a title from 1977 which is the last time one was issued.
Please check my feedback and be assured that I only do business in an honest and up front manner.

The Steve McQueen Desert Racer
Tue, 24 Mar 2009There are few motorcycle icons within pop culture that have endured as vividly as that of the late, great Steve McQueen. A man who was at one time the highest paid actor in Hollywood, he avoided the limelight in favor of immersing himself within his passion for motorcycles. Never afraid of getting dirty, McQueen was at his happiest flogging a bike around the track with fellow racers or tinkering with the machines himself.
