BMW R-Series description

Here is the 1981 R80 G/S - the original GS dual purpose model - Paris/Dakar big tank model with solo seat and attached rack.  Engine #: 6207526.  Fitted with stainless spokes and Staintune stainless exhaust system, BMW bags and has the sump guard.

Good condition throughout: tank has No dents and frame has been powder-coated.  All functional and relatively low mileage from new and could do with new battery.  Starts right up and mechanically quiet.   The machine had a screen although now lost (screen fixtures are fitted).  Rims are good and do have some alloy corrosion which will need to be polished out.  Note that the original I.D. tag had been removed when the frame was powder-coated, however the last 6 or so digits of Vin number are stamped on the frame.

The official regulations currently require a minimum of 125 units produced for an initial homologation inspection, 500 units produced by June 30 of the current year, 1,000 units by the end of the current year and 2,000 units by the end of the following year.
