BMW R-Series description

What I have for sale here is an extremely fun and capable touring/adventure Bike. I manage a car lot in South Mississippi and an old friend of mine, who is also a local Doctor, asked me to help him sell his bike. After a couple of weeks without much luck on my showroom floor and upon recent success with a Corvette I sold on Ebay, I have decided to give it a try. I'm far from an expert on bikes so pardon my lack of details. Should you have a question, don't hesitate to give me a call.

A bike like this wasn't made to be stored away... it's made to travel, long distance, in ANY terrain so whether you're running to the grocery store to buy your wife some milk (maybe you're buying ur husband some cookies) or taking a long distance ride from the southern to the northern plains, Alaska or Mexico, this bike will be your chosen model of transportation.

It's equipped with not one, not two but THREE BMW custom aluminum saddle bags to store all of those groceries you just bought or your camping gear. At a cost of over $2k new, these bags add great value to this bike!

It has a windshield. You'll need this to prevent that bug that is in your direct 120mph line of traffic from hitting you in the face. It can also be removed and used as a shield in battle should you end up in the rain forrests of Brazil and be the target of the cartel or worse, a human trafficker. That's okay though because with this bike, you can pull off onto the wilderness and lose them hopefully.

With a 33L Fuel Tank, you can ride for a while in between stops. Speaking of stopping, did I mention this bike has both front AND rear disc brakes? Yeah, it does!

This Doctor friend of mine didn't spend a lot of time on it obviously as it is a 2010 with only 16k miles... if u do the math that's only 2666 miles per year or 222 miles a month... Even more fun, a little more that ONE trip from the East to the West Coast here in the US. Me, I'd have twice the miles on this bike!

Anyway, I've included a couple of technical excerpts/reviews from a few well known Motorcycle Magazines. Should you have any questions at all, give me a call anytime. Thanks and good luck with your bid. Winner will be responsible for pick up or shipping. Or catch a plane, I'll pick u up and you can just drive it home!

***For 2010 the BMW R1200 GS Adventure gets even better with a touch more torque at 88ftlb, a new twin cam 110bhp motor and the addition of the updated BMW ESA II suspension system and a clever exhaust valve which passes noise tests but opens up as revs increase, the bike is even better for 2010. -Excerpt from MotorCycleNews

***Torque, for instance, is typically constant on this type of machine, but on the 2010 version it starts off strong and then increases measurably along with the rpm, which on gravel roads allows you to use the engine to actually turn the bike, much like a “Drift” car does. -Excerpt from Moto123

Von Kuenheim: BMW Must Start Winning in WSBK Before Entering MotoGP

Fri, 16 Mar 2012

MotoGP racing may be the next logical step for BMW, says Hendrik von Kuenheim, general director of BMW Motorrad. Von Kuenheim was speaking at a press launch for the BMW C600 Sport and C650GT scooters but took a moment to discuss racing with MotoGP.com. Such speculation about BMW entering Grand Prix racing may sometimes be dismissed as idle musings, but the fact the interview was with MotoGP’s official website holds some significance.

Milan Show: Moto2 tried and tested

Tue, 02 Nov 2010

The insanity of Moto2 doesn't seem like the right home for the elegance of the Rizoma brand. But the Rizoma ProGuard system has helped secure the levers of Toni Elias on his road to championship success in the inaugural Moto2 season. The example above was on an attractive Rizoma-enhanced BMW S1000RR, but the lever guards are not limited to sports bikes, they were also visible on Yamaha's FZ8.  The patented design can tilt up to 10 degrees providing full lever coverage and can be added by simply replacing the bike's existing bar-ends.
