BMW R-Series description

I bought this bike 5 years ago and am the second owner. The bike had just 3144 miles on it when I bought it and it now has only ~4600 miles. The original owner traded it back to the dealer for another bike the year after he bought it and the bike sat in storage in the dealership for roughly 15 years. The YouTube video below was made by the dealer I bought the bike from. He did a great job of going over the bike and it's just the same now as it was when I bought it from him - except for the new tires and the 1500 miles I put on it in the 5 years I have owned it. This bike is like new. The only flaw (see pictures) is fairing warp from the exhaust. This was a design flaw and all of these models had this.

The bike is in all original condition except for an adjustable Parabellum windshield. The paint is beautiful! It is BMW 3 stage Pearl Silver Metallic (nearly white, as you can see). This bike was a significant milestone for BMW as this was the first BMW model to have an oil and air cooled motor. It was the only model that year to have oil/air cooling. The "L" in the model R1100RSL stands for "Low" fairing. Very few RSLs were produced.

The pictures don't do this bike justice. If you are interested in looking at it and inspecting it I am more than happy to show it. The bike is in my shop in Ashland,VA.

Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for looking!

EICMA 2012: BMW F800GT Announced as Replacement for F800ST

Tue, 13 Nov 2012

As we reported in August, BMW is replacing its F800ST sport tourer with a new, more touring-oriented version called the F800GT. Revealed at the 2012 EICMA Show in Milan, Italy, the 2013 BMW F800ST is equipped with a 798cc parallel Twin engine claiming 88 hp at 8000rpm, an increase from the BMW F800ST’s claim of 84 hp at 8000rpm (the 2012 F700GS and F800GS also claims 84hp from a similar engine.) Other changes include better wind protection, lighter wheels, new higher-mounted handlebars, repositioned footrests, and load capacity increased to 456 pounds from 432 pounds. Like all current BMW motorcycles, the F800GT comes standard with ABS.

More on 2012 BMW S1000RR Recall

Fri, 27 Apr 2012

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has officially announced the recall for the 2012 BMW S1000RR, providing more information about the problem. According to documents released by NHTSA, the bolts on the connecting rods in the BMW S1000RR may come loose because of an anti-corrosive agent applied to the bolts. The anti-corrosive agent may effect the bolt torque, potentially leading them to come loose, particularly at high temperatures or rpms.
