BMW R-Series description
THIS WILL BE THE THIRD OF MY COLLECTION GOING UP FOR AUCTION. HATE TO LET THIS ONE GO BUT, HANDS AND WRISTS ARE AN ISSUE.
PERFECT CONDITION, NO DEFECTS, NO ACCIDENTS, NO ISSUES, NO FUEL OR OIL LEAKS. I SPENT ALMOST THREE YEARS GETTING THIS BIKE IN THE CONDITIONS IT'S IN. KIND OF A WINTER HOBBY. THE LIST IS LONG SO I'LL ONLY MENTION THE IMPORTANT ITEMS. PAINT, ALL DENTS, SCRATCHES, IMPERFECTIONS REMOVED, PAINTED PROFESSIONALLY IN A LOCAL BMW AUTO REPAIR SHOP. THE FRAME WAS IN PERFECT CONDITION, DIDN'T NEED ANY WORK AT ALL. AS MANY OF THESE STORIES GO THIS BIKE SAT FOR A LONG TIME, THEREFORE IT NEEDED EXTENSIVE CLEANING AND IN SOME CASES MECHANICAL WORK. THEY DON'T DO WELL SITTING. FORKS HAVE BEEN REBUILT, THEY ARE PERFECT NOW. AS MANY LIGHT BULBS AS I WAS ABLE TO FIND LED REPLACEMENTS HAVE BEEN CHANGED INCLUDING THE HEAD AND TAIL LAMP. THE HEAD LAMP IS BLINDING WITH IT'S SUPER POWERFUL LED INSTALLED. I ALSO HAVE AN AUXILIARY TAIL LAMP UNDER THE FACTORY INSTALLED UNIT. IT'S VISIBLE FOR 2 MILES IN DAYLIGHT. HATED THE THOUGHT OF BEING RUN INTO WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT. ONCE CLOSE CALL DID IT. I HAVE A NEW FLIP TYPE STAINLESS STEEL FUEL CAP, THE ORIGINAL BLACK BORING CAP COMES WITH THE BIKE. MADE IN ENGLAND, IT'S BEAUTIFUL. THERE'S ALSO A FLY SHIELD, COMES OFF IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT. ALSO MADE IN ENGLAND, VERY HIGH QUALITY. EASY TO SELL IF YOU HATE IT. TIRES AND OTHER WEAR ITEMS ARE COMPLETELY UP TO SNUFF. BIG BOAR HEADS AND CYLINDERS, ALONG WITH THE PROPERLY JETTED 40MM BINGS. NEW CAM, LIFTERS, VALVE SEATS, (ALL HAD TO BE REPLACED FROM SITTING) DIFFERENTIAL HAS BEEN RESEALED. I CHANGED THE ANEMIC DIODE BOARD, I HAVE THE ORIGINAL, ALONG WITH THE VOLTAGE REGULATOR AND IGNITION TRIGGER. THE ORIGINALS WORKED BUT NOT VERY WELL. WHEELS ARE CORROSION FREE AS ARE THE SPOKES. HAD THEM TRUED WHEN INSTALLING TIRES. THE FRONT DIRECTIONAL SIGNAL STALKS ARE A WEAKNESS ON THESE BIKES. I'VE STRENGTHENED THEM BY USING JB WELD. IF IT MATTERED YOU COULD BUY A NEW MOUNTING BRACKET, WHICH IS AVAILABLE THROUGH MAX. WASN'T WORTH IT AS YOU CAN'T REALLY SEE IT. PAINT IS BEAUTIFUL AS IS THE CHROME AND EVERYTHING ELSE ON THE BIKE. I DID A LITTLE POLISHING AROUND THE BINGS AND VALVE COVERS. THIS IS A GET ON IT AND RIDE, DON'T HAVE TO DO A THING TO IT. EVERY BIKE IVE SOLD HAS SOLD FOR THE BUY IT NOW AND SOLD FAST. IF YOU THINK YOU CAN BUY A BIKE FOR A LOWER PRICE AND BRING IT TO THE CONDITION THIS ONE IS IN THEN THAT'S THE DIRECTION YOU NEED TO GO. I SPENT 2.5 TIMES MORE ON PARTS AND PAINTING THAN THE BIKE. NEVERTHELESS SOME WILL FEEL IT'S WORTH THE GAMBLE TO BUY THE BARGAIN BIKE AND TRY AND BRING IT TO THIS LEVEL. HOPE THAT WORKS OUT. |

BMW's optional extras are getting ridiculous
Sat, 25 Jan 2014The third instalment of the Indian action blockbuster Dhoom became the highest grossing Indian film of all time. More interesting than that are the laughable bike scenes, with Dhoom 3 featuring one chase scene between a K1300R and a S1000RR. In the first Dhoom film a Hayubasu magically transformed into 125cc bike for a train jump.
FIM to Revise WSBK Homologation Requirements
Fri, 17 Jan 2014The International Motorcycling Federation is considering modifying its homologation requirements for the World Superbike Championship following Bimota‘s somewhat surprising plans to re-enter the series. Under current regulations, manufacturers must produce a minimum number of motorcycles for it to be eligible to compete in the production-based WSBK championship. The official regulations currently require a minimum of 125 units produced for an initial homologation inspection, 500 units produced by June 30 of the current year, 1,000 units by the end of the current year and 2,000 units by the end of the following year.
