BMW R-Series description
This is a NO RESERVE listing.
This is my 1977 BMW R100/7 motorcycle. At the time, this was the finest, most desirable motorcycle in the world- this was the Rolls-Royce of motorcycling. This was the biggest, most powerful bike built by BMW, makers of the "Legendary German Motorcycles".
This bike has been owned by a classic auto and motorcycle enthusiast and it runs, rides and performs very well. This bike starts and runs great and it is smooth, powerful and rides great. This bike was just out on a 90-mile cruise last week and it rode perfectly.
The bike has the well-known BMW horizontally-opposed "airhead" air-cooled twin-cylinder 1000cc engine, plus 5-speed transmission, shaft drive, front disc brake, dual carburetors and a dealer-option Lester aluminum wheels.
This bike includes a full front fairing (not installed on the bike) plus removable rear hard cases. The brackets for the front fairing and rear bags are easily removable to give the bike a clean, "naked" appearance if you like.
The fuel tank is bronze in color and the rest of the bike is black. This is a great "rider" bike, not a pristine museum piece or showroom bike. This bike has normal and expected wear and tear to the appearance like you might expect for an unrestored 35-year old motorcycle. The paint on the fenders and side covers is a bit chipped and somewhat rough in appearance. The seat is newer and in great condition with no cracks or sun damage.
This bike has never been kept outdoors and it has always been garaged. Mechanically it is in great riding condition- you could ride this bike anywhere you want.
The miles are 86,534 and this engine is strong and runs perfectly. It starts great and runs very well. These legendary engines are known to go for 200,000 miles before rebuild, so you can figure that this bike has lots of life left to go.
I have the original books and manuals with the bike, as well as a repair manual.
You could fly in to Cleveland (CLE) and ride this bike home. Alternatively you could have the bike shipped- please call Angels Moving Autos at 530 245 0481 for a shipping quote.
If you have questions, please email me or call/text me at 440 339 4341.

The 390 Adventure Project – Upgrades and Adjustments
Wed, 10 Jul 2024Following in the wake of the Biltwell 100 race, my confidence in the 390 Adventure and my ability to pilot it for long stretches off-road soared. The ability to combine the technical skills I learned in the ATX Moto Adventures and Sedlak Off Road classes, along with some good old-fashioned seat time, really paid off. In addition, there were two changes I made to the bike that firmly cemented my trust in piloting it through the sketchy sandy trails – a custom lowered seat from Seat Concepts, and some aggressive knobby tires.
