This beautiful BMW boxer twin motorcycle is one of those manufactured in Berlin, Germany by BMW in 1972. The /5 "airhead" models are air cooled, four stroke, opposed twin, boxer engine hemispherical combustion chambers. Rust free, well cared for, always garage kept motorcycle looking for an owner that appreciates an asset that will continue to gain value. This 44 year old airhead is more than a classic and ready to roll for many years to come. Included with this motorcycle that I received as a gift from my father in law is a brand new R60/5 clutch disc. This motorcycle starts great however I'm not a motorcycle expert and I don't ride like I said it's a gift. This motorcycle is SOLD AS IS! It is unusual when that racer doesn’t compete on one that manufacturer’s machines though. Nevertheless, Interwetten Racing‘s Thomas Luthi, who rides a Honda-powered Suter machine in the Moto2 World Championship is a BMW brand ambassador, and thus, the German manufacturer has produced a limited edition R1200GS in his name.
Michael Dunlop to Race for BMW at 2014 Isle of Man TT
Wed, 12 Feb 2014BMW Motorrad UK has signed seven-time winner Michael Dunlop to race in the 2014 Isle of Man TT and other international road races. Dunlop will be the first factory-backed BMW rider in 50 years, and will try to be the first rider to win a TT race on a BMW since Georg Meier won in 1939 on a RS 255 Kompressor. Dunlop, nephew of the great Joey Dunlop, was the star of the 2013 Isle of Man TT, winning four races and finishing second in the Senior TT on Honda machines.
