BMW R-Series description

1968 BMW R60US

A stunning classic airhead.

A completely restored motorcycle done by professionals at APEX BMW/ Ducati.

The bike was completed in July of 2013 and now has 1200 miles on the finished product.

This is a no expense spared complete re-build, using original and some new old stock parts.

The frame, swing arm, cylinders and miscellaneous parts were powder coated.

All of the painted parts have fresh paint, and as necessary the correct hand pin striped accents.

The engine was completely disassembled and rebuilt.

The top end included rebuilding the cylinder heads, new valve guides and seats, new valve springs, new pistons, new piston rings, as well as 4 new pushrod tubes.

The lower end of the motor has new crank bearings, camshaft bearings, a new sport camshaft.

New cam nose bearings, new slingers, new valve covers, new clutch friction plate, a new clutch spring, as well new assembly parts and of course all new gaskets and seals.

The crankshaft and the driveshaft were rebuilt to original spec.

The cylinders were re-bored to first oversize.

The gearbox was completely re-built with new bearings, seals, shims, and bushings.

The rear drive got new crown and pinion bearings and seals.

The suspension front and rear was rebuilt with all new old stock parts when needed, and has all new bearings seals and gaskets.

Rear swing arm bearings and seals are new. Also a new U.S. steering damper.

A complete tune up included carburetor rebuild with new parts, and the correct adjustments for the new BMW sport camshaft timing.

A new air cleaner housing with choke, new air filter and O rings.

New wiring harness and necessary electric parts.

Electrical and charging system has been upgraded to a new 12 volt conversion.

New magneto ignition coil and terminal board.

New Hella OEM bar end signals.

New Bumm mirrors, new switches, new switch bases etc.

Wheels were rebuilt with new bearings, seals, spokes, brake shoes and tires.

Reproduction exhaust system correct for R60.

New Denfield seats.

New Baggage Porters from Germany.

Many other miscellaneous parts too numerous to mention, nothing overlooked.

If you are looking for a collectable vintage airhead, it would be very hard to find one as nice as this. Short of original and new, this bike is awesome.

We have included multiple pictures to show as accurately as possible the exact condition of the bike. Check out the details.

2024 Verge TS Pro Electric Motorcycle Review – Quick Ride

Thu, 20 Jun 2024

First impressions of a unique e-bike from Scandinavia Photos by Nic de Sena Every good story needs a hook, and Verge certainly has one with its hubless rear wheel design. They’re leaning into it so much that even the company T-shirts say, “Reinventing the wheel” on the back. But what is the Verge TS, anyway?

Need more from your S1000RR?

BMW has launched an HP Race Power Kit for the S1000 RR costing £2,850 including VAT.For trackday riders and racers, the kit - a new ECU and an Akrapovic exhaust system - increases peak power and torque, while optimising the bike’s engine, braking and power management systems, claim BMW, for short circuit riding and racing.Ayrton Badovini’s 2010 FIM Superstock 1000 championship-winning bike uses the HP Race Power Kit. It can also be found on the Jentin Racing-BMW Motorrad S 1000 RR being raced by Richard Cooper in the British National Superstock championship.• Maximum engine output increased by 4bhp and 6lb.ft to 197bhp (147kW) and 88.5 lb.ft (120 Nm) with power and torque significantly bolstered throughout the key 5000 to 9000 rpm midrange• Once installed, the power mapping for the four engine management riding modes (‘Rain’, ‘Sport’, ‘Race’ and ‘Slick’) is identical and the S 1000 RR delivers the full 197bhp across all four modes• The different modes instead alter the electronic rider aids with the Race ABS reducing input and the Dynamic Traction Control allowing full power at greater lean angles as the modes move from ‘Rain’ through to ‘Slick’• Engine braking on overrun is reduced giving more balanced corner entry• Pit-lane limiter activated when the start button is held down in first gear (actual speed maintained may vary with the bike’s gearing)• Akrapovic titanium and carbon-fibre full exhaust system saves 6.8kg over stock and includes a baffle which allows the exhaust to meet noise regulations in place at some circuits
