HERE'S A GREAT RUNNING 1966 R50/2 WITH A LATER R60/2 ENGINE. IN AN LOCAL ESTATE SALE WE PURCHASED VINTAGE BIKES FROM A ELDERLY COLLECTOR IN SOUTHWEST CT. OUR SHOP GAVE THIS BIKE A THOROUGH TUNE-UP, INCLUDING A NEW COIL, CARBS REBUILD, VALVE ADJUST AND RETIMED THE ENGINE. IT'S A ONE KICK START BIKE AND RUNS GOOD. 120 PSI COMPRESSION IN BOTH CYLINDERS. HAS GOOD WORKING ELECTRICS AND HELLA BAR ENDS. TIRES ARE OLDER. KICKER OCCASIONALLY GETS CAUGHT AT TOP AND RELEASES WHEN CLUTCH HANDLE IS PULLED IN. UPDATE:  Full Review now on Motorcycle.com (with video) We just spent the day ripping it up around the fabulous Portimao race circuit in Portugal on BMW’s new S1000RR supersport literbike, and it’s set to blow away perceptions of what a BMW motorcycle is. With 193 crankshaft horsepower and a claimed dry weight of 404 pounds, BMW says the S1000RR has the best power-to-weight ratio of any production bike. And, by the way the S1000 lofts its front wheel onto Portimao’s front straight at 150 mph, we’re becoming believers!

The achievement was chalked up to the fearless Erin Sills of the Hunter Sills Racing team. 242 mph (389 km/h)! This is the maximum speed shown by the jet lady on the salt lake in Bolivia.

It’s not unusual for motorcycle manufacturers to produce special edition models to honor a racer. It is unusual when that racer doesn’t compete on one that manufacturer’s machines though. Nevertheless, Interwetten Racing‘s Thomas Luthi, who rides a Honda-powered Suter machine in the Moto2 World Championship is a BMW brand ambassador, and thus, the German manufacturer has produced a limited edition R1200GS in his name.
