BMW R-Series description

1966 BMW R27, 250cc single, VIN# 380737 (VIN, engine, and ID tag all match), mileage 26,890,  and it's in excellent original condition. The bike was first sold in early 1967 and it has a clear 1967 Florida title. Reason for selling:  making room in my collection for some new additions. You can see my other auction item, a 1957 Triumph TRW.

The bike's history as it was told to me when I purchased it:
I'm the 3rd owner.  The bike's 1st owner traded it in at Bob's BMW in Jessup, Maryland in 2003. The 2nd owner purchased the bike from Bob's BMW on 11/19/03.  The bike comes with the bill of sale from Bob's BMW which states the bike was serviced, was running great, and had 26,890 miles on it at time.  It also shows that the bike was shipped to the 2nd owner in Miami, FL at the time of the sale.  The 2nd owner kept it on display and never rode it. When I purchased it, it still showed 26,890 miles and I also placed it in my collection without starting it.

Please note the German porcelain Badge/Emblem that the original owner placed on the gas tank. It was interpreted for me as,  "German Maritime Search and Rescue Service".

This is a no reserve auction so please look at all the pictures and ask any questions before you bid. The bike is available for showing by appointment before the auction ends.

Buyer is responsible for all shipping arrangements and costs. The bike is sold as-is with no warranty offered or implied. A $500 non refundable PayPal deposit is due within 48 hours from the end of the auction and full payment is due within 7 days from the end of the auction.

BMW Motorrad sold a record 60,580 motorcycles over the first six months of 2011, a new record for the German manufacturer. First half figures were 6.3% higher than the 57,015 units sold in the same period in 2010. BMW reports strong demand across all its models, with the Boxer engine R-series models leading the way.

How to murder an HP2 Sport

Mon, 08 Oct 2012

Some bikes and cars should be left entirely stock; left unchanged from the way the factory intended them to be. In purchasing them you should understand that. I could produce a list of vehicles that should be taken off the owner if they modified them in any way but I'll save you the boredom.

ATGATT? – Question of the Day

Thu, 02 May 2024

Be honest, now May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, which makes it as good a time as any for all of us to take stock of our own riding habits, both good and bad. Most motorcyclists are familiar with the acronym “ATGATT”, but for those who aren’t, it stands for “All The Gear, All The Time”. That means wearing the right safety equipment every time you ride, whether you’re commuting to work, or hopping over to the corner store for a carton of milk.
