BMW R-Series description
Up for auction is my BMW R60/2 with a R50/2 motor. The VIN for the frame is 624510 and the VIN for the motor is 641296. I bought the bike from the previous owner with this motor installed, so this is not a numbers matching R60/2. That being said right up front, it is a great riding old beemer in pretty good shape. More times than not, it starts up on the first kick. I can go through all the gears with ease and it rides smoothly down the road at reasonable speeds. I have not taken the bike on the Interstate, but it does great around town, and even on minor highways. The front tire is in need of replacement, as it is aged and cracking some on the sidewalls. It holds air and will ride down the road, but it is old and needs to be replaced. The rear tire is fine with good tread. The wheels are in good shape and not bent. The front brake does not have superman stopping power, not sure if it needs some adjustment, new pads, or if these older beemers were just this way. The rear brake is fine and will stop the bike with ease. The tank has a small dent on the left side (as seen in pic) but the paint is not scratched up at the dent. The overall paint on the bike is normal wear for the age of the bike. I am not sure if it is original, I do know that the front fender is not striped as it would have been when new. I have been told that the valve covers are likely from a R50s, however the # from the motor is not that of an R50s. The rear fender is in solid shape, but there are holes(seen in pic) from the original pillion, or possibly a rear rack. I do have a rear pillion that will go with the bike, but it looks to be an aftermarket. The seat is a fairly new Denfeld solo in excellent condition. The signals work, however, the bike does not currently have a battery so it will only produce enough power to operate them with the low beams on. The headlight and brake light work. The headlight had some damage (as seen in pic), but it is not bad. The speedometer works but the odometer and trip meter do not, they show only 18,000 miles, which is not the actual mileage of this motorcycle. Actual mileage is unknown. I would say that this old Beemer would be a great restoration base for the right person, but it would also be perfectly fine to cruise it around in it's current condition. I do not have a mechanical history on the motorcycle, so I do not know when or if the slingers have been serviced. I live about a mile from BMW of Northern Colorado and Beemers and More here in Fort Collins, and would be happy to take it there for an inspection, you would just need to contact them and arrange for it and pay any fees associated up front. I am selling the motorcycle as is, with no warranty of any kind implied, so please ask any questions or contact me before doing any bidding. I have attempted to cover all of the bases here, but without being a certified BMW mechanic, I cannot make any guarantees of any kind.

Another few things to mention - the fuel tank has a very subtle pinhole leak somewhere at the very back end of the tank near the front of the seat. If I fill the tank halfway or so, there is no fuel leaking, if I top the tank off, it gets very slightly moistened with fuel. It is very minor, but should be addressed. Also, has the typical airhead oil leak from the pushrod tube seals. The rods are in good shape and the rubber on the tubes seem to be in good shape, but they do seem to have a subtle leak. I usually get a few drops after riding and then it stops after it cools off. This is a 50 year old motorcycle, so it is hard to describe every little detail, but I am just trying to be as honest as I can and list what I know of.

2014 WSBK – Phillip Island Results
Sun, 23 Feb 2014When he signed with the team, Eugene Laverty said he would give all he possibly could to bring Suzuki back to the top of the podium once again. Well, it sure didn’t take the Northern Irishman long to accomplish that goal, winning the very first race of the 2014 season at Australia’s Phillip Island course. The win was Laverty’s third in a row, including the final two races of the 2013 season when he raced for Aprilia.
2014 BMW R1200RT Spied Testing
Thu, 21 Mar 2013With the new 2013 BMW R1200GS now launching worldwide, it really should be no surprise BMW is working on more models using the GS’s new liquid-cooled boxer engine. A contributor to French site MotoMag happened upon a crew of test riders on heavily camouflaged test mules of what appears to be the 2014 BMW R1200RT. The swirly camo pattern does little to hide the new “precision cooling” liquid-cooled engine, easily identified by the pipes exiting from the bottom of the cylinders.
