1981 BMW R65 (1981)
Bike has been well maintained, all records available to show this, by professional mechanics (Bob's BMW, MD; Tom Turnbal, Baltimore). I'm the second owner and enjoyed it for 6 months before deciding I wanted a speed bike. Bike runs perfectly, starts every time, needs nothing mechanically. Metzler Lasertech tires have plenty of tread left. Additions: round headlight setup (seen in photo) is easy to assemble, I have all parts; Vetter "Quicksilver" fairing and saddlebags available, with keys; full bmw toolkit. Issues: speedometer (works) but needle broke. This bike is ton of fun to ride, extremely reliable, and will run for literally hundreds of thousands of miles longer.2013-10-23 00:31:59Baltimore, Maryland, US27,9343,000.00

Based largely on the R26, in 1960 the R27 added rubber mounts for the engine and boosted power to 18 hp (13 kW). The R27's 250 cc OHV vertical single was the only rubber-mounted thumper engine BMW ever produced, and was their last shaft drive single-cylinder motorcycle. The engine pumped out 18 hp (13 kW), the highest ever for a shaft-drive BMW single.2013-09-27 23:44:24Norcross, GA, US812,000.00

Tue, 21 May 2024What you need to know about financing a new motorcycle Photo by Audio und werbung / Shutterstock.com Every motorcycle enthusiast wants their own set of wheels. One of the deterring factors that keeps you from purchasing your own motorcycle is the hefty price tag it comes with. If the upfront cost is holding you back, you might want to look into getting a motorcycle loan.

Adventure Riding in the American West – A Photobook
Thu, 09 May 2024Photobook “Adventure Riding in the American West” is live on Kickstarter! Olivier de Vaulx, a long-time collaborator with our friends over at Upshift Magazine as well as many other international publications, has launched a project of his own on Kickstarter this week: A 200-page photo book that compiles 10 years of riding in the most remote places of the West. Cutting no corners, as Olivier says, this book will be a 9 x 12 inch hardcover, printed on archival-quality paper.
ATGATT? – Question of the Day
Thu, 02 May 2024Be honest, now May is Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month, which makes it as good a time as any for all of us to take stock of our own riding habits, both good and bad. Most motorcyclists are familiar with the acronym “ATGATT”, but for those who aren’t, it stands for “All The Gear, All The Time”. That means wearing the right safety equipment every time you ride, whether you’re commuting to work, or hopping over to the corner store for a carton of milk.
When is a 500 Not a 500? – Question of the Day
Wed, 24 Apr 2024When it's a 451, d'uh. In our last Question of the Day, we asked about some of the more… questionable names given to motorcycles (Hondas seemed to come up fairly often in the replies, which is both interesting and somehow not surprising.) I mentioned how it’s generally safer for a manufacturer to stick to a combination of letters and numbers. While that’s generally true, apart from the occasionally comical practice of tackling on another “R” to make a model sound sportier ( looking at you again, Honda), it does bring the focus onto yet another common pet peeve: motorcycles with misleading numbers in the name.
Metzeler Roadtec 02 Tire Review
Thu, 18 Apr 2024Evaluating a sport-touring tire in extreme conditions Photos by Metzeler Designing a sport-touring tire must be one of the hardest challenges in motorcycling. In a way, you’re asking for it all. The sport-touring customer wants a tire that offers handling like a sportbike, but with the mileage of a touring bike.
How To Protect Motorcycle Chrome
Thu, 04 Apr 2024Keeping the shiny bits shiny There is sound logic behind popping a bottle of your favorite suds, saddling up next to your bike after a Sunday ride, and going over every shiny bit of chrome with a soft cloth to ensure its gleaming. Protecting your motorcycle’s chrome is about getting ahead of the game with preventative maintenance, ensuring that all the glistening chrome-plated components can continue to thrive for years. In this article, we’ll discuss the nitty-gritty related to chrome, from why it’s used to how owners can keep it in excellent shape.
Where In The World: A Week In Spain Testing Hypermotards and Dukes
Fri, 16 Feb 2024Trizzle’s week-long Spanish residency testing five different bikes from two manufacturers As moto-journos, we get into this job to ride new bikes in far off locations. For 2024 anyway, that means Spain. Nearly every new model intro is being held in Spain this year, one literally right after the other.
Small Adventure Bike, Big Adventure Dreams
Thu, 15 Feb 2024The long-term KTM 390 ADV Project Photos by Joe Jackson If you’ve had a pulse the last five years or so, you’ve noticed the urge to take two wheels into the dirt has swept through the motorcycle community like a rogue wave. Riders across age ranges, experience levels and even financial demographics have turned to off-road, not instead of, but in addition to any and all riding they were previously doing. So it’s no surprise to see small-sized ADV bikes plodding along behind the surge like the sure-footed mules that they are.
Seat Time: Falling on Your Face
Mon, 12 Feb 2024Photography by: Matthew McNulty and Justin Coffey After scrolling through endless lists of famous quotes looking for something which really suits my condition, I landed on this: “There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.” —Paulo Coelho It’s not the most profound of the options. Nor the most touching or even poignant. But how I interpret the meaning was the most encouraging.
