While the 2013 R1200GS is an all-new bike, the lion s share of attention has been paid to the use of water to cool the boxer engine for the first time in BMW s 90-year history. But the engine is substantially changed in other areas, including the rotation of ports the exhaust is now on the bottom not the front, the intake on top and not the back and position of the transmission in the cases. The other headline for the new powerplant is the use of a wet, multi-plate clutch. And as you might guess, the feel of the new engine and clutch is noticeably different than previous versions.

2025 KTM 1390 Super Adventure S EVO – First Look
Tue, 22 Oct 2024North American models will arrive for 2026 model year Photos by Rudi Schedl KTM revealed the new 1390 Super Adventure S EVO, bringing its new 1350cc platform to its adventure bike lineup, and debuting its much touted Automated Manual Transmission (AMT), 8” TFT display, and Bosch next-generation radar-based rider aids. The 1390 Super Adventure S EVO (besides being quite a mouthful) introduces new bodywork with a stubbier front end that creates a silhouette that looks a bit more like KTM’s rally racers, while still holding on to a few cues from the 1290 SAS like the opening behind the radiator shroud and pretty much everything else from the back half of the bike. KTM’s aggressive marketing campaign around the new Super Adventure has it dicing around a racetrack with an RC8R, before activating the ultimate cheat code and cutting through the dirt to reach the next corner first.

Tue, 09 Oct 2012You would think carrying a 30.5 point lead into the final round of the 2012 World Superbike Championship would be a safe enough margin to win the title. Aprilia‘s Max Biaggi made it interesting, inexplicably crashing out of the first race at the finale in Magny-C0urs before scoring a fifth place finish in Race Two to give him a 0.5 point margin over Kawasaki‘s Tom Sykes to win the title. The 358 to 357.5 point difference is the narrowest finish ever in WSBK.
2024 GS Trophy Day 4 – A Saving Grace
Fri, 20 Sep 2024In an interesting turn of events, Team USA has been reinstated to the competition, only losing the chance to score points on the day the MRP rode with them. Likewise, the two teams from Benelux have now joined together to create a co-ed team with the remaining female competitor joining the two men to round out the team. Despite being down a day’s worth of points, our good ol boys hit the ground running on their way out of Spitzkoppe toward the first special test of the day, the Advantec Pull Challenge.
