2013 BMW R 1200 GS Adventure, As far as two-cylinder fans are concerned, first-class touring has a memorable abbreviation - and its been around for 30 years: RT. For long-haul travelers there can hardly be any other term which has always stood for perfectly conceived motorcycling concept from start to finish: excellent wind and weather protection, optimum ergonomics, highly convenient operation combined with a top-class chassis fitted with the unique optional extras ASC and ESA II*.In the touring segment, these features probably define the ultimate benchmark of innovation. Even though the R 1200 RT cuts a superb figure everywhere with its dynamic new design, everything about it sends out the message: built to cover thousands of miles, preferably in one go.Then there is this fascinating mixture of distinctive engine and big bike dynamics. Range is not a problem with a tank capacity of 8.7 gallons. Robustness? The R 1200 GS Adventure looks as if it had invented the term - and it certainly has defined it in the motorcycle world.
This is partly due to the range of features which have become almost as legendary as the bike itself. On this machine you can take potholes with 1" more clearance than on the R 1200 GS. Perfect ergonomics, optimum gearing for every terrain, and a chassis which - whether fully loaded or not - will allow you to thrill your pillion passenger as well as surprise anyone ahead of you. The special equipment features off-road ESA and ASC continue to be unsurpassed, hence the motto: Unstoppable.
The bike s unstoppable character is further enhanced with the new DOHC engine*, which first displayed its impressive performance in the legendary HP2 Sport. For the R 1200 GS Adventure, torque was given higher priority than output in line with practical considerations. And you can feel it. 88 ft-lb of torque at the peak at 6000 rpm is one thing, but the consistently higher level of torque in the relevant range up to 5000 rpm can be fully experienced. The output has been increased to 110 hp at 7750 rpm.
The supreme riding pleasure is underscored by a powerful sound from the new exhaust system with exhaust flap so take a test ride now!

BMW 1000RR and the Honda C70, are they indestructible?
Wed, 20 Apr 2011I’ve managed 1374 miles on the Michelin Power Pures (mostly on track) and although we’ve had some decent temperatures they still look like new so there’s plenty meat left for another month at least. I’ve been running them at 30psi front and 32psi rear and find they warm up after a few miles but I wouldn’t say the temperature comes any quicker than any of the competition so it has to be four miles before I get brave. I’ve had a few out the seat moments with my BMW but I have got the rear suspension set pretty hard (8 rebound,8 compression, two turns on pre load) and in slick mode, so 190bhp in first gear at the Knockhill hairpin is always going to be dodgy.
Dainese to Develop Airbag-Equipped Riding Gear for BMW; Technology Coming to BMW Motorcycles in 2015
Wed, 17 Jul 2013BMW announced a new joint project with Dainese that would develop a new line of rider equipment using the Italian company’s integrated airbag technology. The two companies will also be working on integrating the technology to BMW’s motorcycles. The new line will make use of Dainese’s D-Air technology developed by MotoGP racers such as Jorge Lorenzo and Valentino Rossi.
