When we build a superbike, we have no time for second best. We now present the very latest in racing power. With an aluminum bridge, radial brakes, a super sporty tail-up nose-down design, hot colors and the ultimate combination of electronic rider assistance systems: the first genuine racing ABS, whose features include a front-wheel-only mode, dynamic traction control (DTC) which permits varying degrees of slip, depending on the lean angle. The more the rider hangs off, the more upright the bike and the longer the lines on leaving the curve. Never before was it so easy to keep so much power under control. This is just as true on public roads as it is down on the racetrack. The RR label shows that it is a full-blooded racing bike, even though it can also be ridden with a number plate attached. BMW 1000RR and the Honda C70, are they indestructible?
Wed, 20 Apr 2011I’ve managed 1374 miles on the Michelin Power Pures (mostly on track) and although we’ve had some decent temperatures they still look like new so there’s plenty meat left for another month at least. I’ve been running them at 30psi front and 32psi rear and find they warm up after a few miles but I wouldn’t say the temperature comes any quicker than any of the competition so it has to be four miles before I get brave. I’ve had a few out the seat moments with my BMW but I have got the rear suspension set pretty hard (8 rebound,8 compression, two turns on pre load) and in slick mode, so 190bhp in first gear at the Knockhill hairpin is always going to be dodgy.
30th Anniversary Edition BMW K1300S Announced for EICMA

The 2013 BMW K1300S “30 Jahre K-Modelle” will be presented at the 2012 EICMA show in Milan, Italy in a couple of weeks’ time. Though perhaps not as popular as BMW‘s R series boxer models, the K series served as a platform for a number of technologies that were either new for BMW or new for the motorcycle industry.

Even though 15 years is a long time, especially in the Superbike arena, where serious players like BeeEm, as well as Ducati, Aprilia, and the Japanese, don’t stint on investing in fast-moving high-end technical R&D in pursuit of engineering excellence, the German brand’s first-ever customer motorcycle with a transverse-mounted four-cylinder has maintained its leading edge reputation for both mechanical and electronic innovation ever since then, and the newly introduced latest version is no exception. This is because, for the coming 2023 model year, BMW has essentially uprated its existing volume production version of the bike by transplanting a good chunk of the array of technical upgrades available until now only to around 1,200 well-heeled or well-sponsored users of the M1000RR, the uber-expensive, uber-performing version of BMW’s street-legal superbike that’s been on sale for the past two years, essentially as a homologation special for Superbike racing.
