The Best Bar in America
Fri, 08 Mar 2013A whiskey-fueled writing assignment takes one man on an epic motorcycle road trip through the bars and taverns across the American West in this feature film. The film follows a character called Sanders who rides a 1960 BMW R60/2 across Arizona, Utah and Montana. With help of fellow traveler and sage, Northway, and a variety of other colorful characters along the way, Sanders gets learns the way of the road and the zen of the bar. The Best Bar in America is scheduled for release on DVD and iTunes this Spring. If you fancy watching a bike film before then you can always check out Visordown's Top 10 motorcycle movies of all time.
New: BMW System 6 Evo helmet
Fri, 12 Apr 2013BMW has released the new System 6 Evo flip-front helmet. It retains the clean lines of the System 6, while increasing levels of comfort and practicality with a more scratch-resistant internal sun visor, a more robust visor mechanism designed to make operation with gloved hands easier, improved ventilation control on the chin, and a revised spoiler for better aerodynamics. BMW says it has a unique chin bar pivot which reduces the size of the helmet when the chin bar is upright. Weighing in at 1.57kg, the ECE 22-05 homologated Evo is a quiet lid, with noise levels registering at 84-86 dBA at 62 mph. The helmet comes ready for installation of the BMW Communication system, offering a Bluetooth connection to the BMW Navigator IV sat-nav, music players, mobile phones and other BMW helmets.
BMW Standardizes Switches
Thu, 23 Oct 2008Whenever you throw your leg over a bike that isn’t your own, there is always a few minutes needed to become familiar with the proportions and controls of the foreign machine. Getting a sense of the clutch release point, brake feel, throttle response and riding position may all differ from what you have been accustomed, but they slowly become second nature after enough seat time is logged. One such control that strays from this rule of thumb is the turn signal operation of many BMWs.
