BMW showed the electric scooter of the future

Motorrad Concept Link is a two-wheeled gadget that understands its owner. An electric propulsion system with a traction battery located in the lower part of the “body” and a motor that transmits traction to the rear wheel via a belt drive is far from the most remarkable aspect of the concept. For example, it has a stretched wheelbase and reverse gear.

The BMW C1-E, prepared for the European Safer Urban Motorcycling (eSUM), was designed to represent safe and environmentally friendly vehicles of the future. Like the C1, which was produced 2000-2003, the concept has a number of safety features such as a roll-over bar, energy-absorbing nose to soften head-on collisions and seat belts. EICMA 2013: 2014 BMW R1200RT Revealed

We confess, the BMW R1200RT was a glaring omission from our list of top 10 motorcycles to watch at EICMA. There are so many new bikes coming out at the 2013 EICMA show, it was hard enough to narrow it down to just 10, but that doesn’t excuse us forgetting BMW is adding another model powered by the new R1200GS‘ liquid-cooled boxer engine.
