BMW K-Series description

This is a rare opportunity to own a nearly perfect 1985 BMW K100 Naked.  The 1985 K100 Naked is the most desirable year and model.  These motorcycles have a well deserved reputation for long life and reliability.  Some of these bikes have been known to log over 300,000 miles with no engine tear down.

This K bike runs as good as it looks and is ready to ride anywhere.  This is a smooth comfortable machine that will carry you across country or around town.  You could spend $20,000 + on a new BMW motorcycle that would be marginally better, if at all.  This may be the best example in the country.

I purchased this motorcycle in May of 2011.  I have put approximately 3,000 miles on the bike.  I took one flawless road trip from Ohio to Virginia and back, otherwise short rides around town.

The odometer reads 66,304 and it broke shortly after I purchased the motorcycle.  The electronic instruments on this vintage K bike are about the only weak link.  Many owners end up re-building or re-placing.  The speedometer, tachometer, fuel lights, shifting indicator and clock all are in working condition.  Only the odometer quit and should reflect accurately within 3 - 4,000 miles.

The rear mono-shock was replaced in 2011.

The center stand was replaced in 2011.

I had a qualified BMW Mechanic in 2012 remove the transmission and inspect and lubricate the clutch input and output splines.  These bikes have a dry clutch and this maintenance should be done every 25 to 30,000 miles.  No worries it has been done.  The final drive was also cleaned, inspected and re-lubricated.

This bike also features a beautiful windshield that looks great on the bike.  A second smaller windshield also comes with the bike.

The BMW Panniers, (hard bags) are in excellent condition and they are hard to find replacements and are usually in tattered condition. There are also new liner bags for the panniers.

The pictures should tell the story regarding the condition of this classic motorcycle.

The motorcycle is available for your inspection, contact seller to make arrangements.

The bike to be picked up at my home by the successful bidder.  I am willing to keep it in my garage for a reasonable period of time at no charge to allow a new owner time to make pick up arrangements.  If shipping is desired, I will work with the buyer but all costs associated with shipping will be the responsibility of the buyer.
