I am selling my 2007 BMW K1200LT, as I just bought a 2016 K1600GTLE and don't have room in my garage, nor time to ride both bikes.  This LT is immaculate & has been very well maintained, 45,900 miles, all standard features, including the electro-hydraulic center stand (EHCS); cruise control; electrically adjustable windshield; adjustable rear shock; dual front disc brakes; servo-controlled integral ABS brakes; central locking; 3 12V powerlet plugs; reverse gear; radio & single CD player (note – like many LTs, it does not work); stingray storage compartment with stock flashlight; heated seats and handgrips; and left & right fins for regulating slipstream pressure against the rider.   Optional equipment and upgrades (over $6,000 invested): ·        Russell Day Long seat with leather uppers, vinyl sides, rider & passenger backrests, with matching passenger seat recovered by RDL (Russell’s are arguably the best custom motorcycle seats on the market, designed to allow riding all day without fatigue); ·        Yacugar front & rear shock absorbers (similar, but beefier than Wilburs or Ohlins); ·        Garmin 590LM GPS (with NuShield anti-glare film & not shown GlareStomper shroud) mounted in place of the stock, obsolete BMW Nav III system, with front & rear tire pressure sensors, and a USB switched power socket; ·        Spiegler stainless steel brake lines (all LTs should have had the stock lines replaced, if they haven’t been – beware); ·        PIAA driving lights controlled by an AS-7 Autoswitch (double-clicking the turn signal canceling switch turns them on and off); ·        Jiffy Tite metal quick disconnects on gas tank fuel lines (safer and more dependable than the stock plastic QDs which are prone to break); ·        Fix-It-Before-It-Breaks top case latch kit (many LTs have broken latches – this is a beefy kit installed to prevent the latch from ever breaking); ·        BMW R1200RT left and right handlebar-mounted auxiliary rearview mirrors; ·        Rider-West top case brake light (briefly flashes the top case brake lights when you hit the brakes for enhanced safety); ·        Four piece set of Kathy’s Journey luggage (for both side cases, top case, and top case luggage rack); ·        Centech AP-2 fuse block (allows quick and easy installation of electrical accessories); ·        V-stream polycarbonate windshield; ·        Speedbleeder valves on both front and the rear brake calipers & the hydraulic clutch bleed line; ·        Odessey PC680 battery; and ·        Clymer Shop Manual.  The engine, transmission, & final drive fluids were all changed, gas tank fuel lines, gas & air filters, spark plugs, and one valve bucket were replaced at 42,500 miles.  Brake lines, brake pads, & fluid (including clutch fluid) were changed at approximately 40,700 miles.  The new front tire (Metzler) has approximately 200 miles wear, while the rear Bridgestone has 6,875 miles on it, and a spare rear is also included with 5/32nds tread remaining.  Fly in to Los Angeles International or Burbank’s Bob Hope Airport with a collapsible bag containing your helmet and gear, load the included luggage and you’re ready to ride home anywhere across the country!

Best Naked Motorcycle of 2024: KTM 1390 Super Duke

Fri, 20 Dec 2024

The 1290 Super Duke was already a ridiculous motorcycle with the amount of power it had, all wrapped up in a fairing-less package. I thought we had reached peak levels of power, torque, and displacement – especially in naked bikes – and the industry would shift its attention towards electronics to make it all manageable. But then KTM went and threw the playbook out the window with this, the 1390 Super Duke.
